Alebrije Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Exeter Township

Food is always great. However last two times I went to eat I have had a wrong tip fee added onto my bill. My fiancé and I went, ordered lunch, my fiancé always makes sure to tip, we ate, then when the check came an 18% gratuity tip was added, we had a male server. In the menu is states clearly that a party of 6 or more will get charged the 18% (mind you it was just my fiancé and I) we didn’t say anything, we paid and left. Then last week my mother grand mother and I ate, had the same male server, and got charged the 18% again, and for our bill it was near $7. I then went to the bartender that had been on, and asked why we were being charged the 18% (asked the bar tender because the male server was with another guest and then went to the kitchen) I pointed out that we are a party of 3, not of 6, and that the menu clearly states a party of 6 will get charged. I then was told that “sometimes we add that on because when regulars come in sometimes they don’t leave tips” I then got annoyed because not only 1,it’s false advertisement to say a party of a certain amount of people will be charged, then 2 times in one month I get charged for having much less than the listed amount of party, and 2 got annoyed because tipping is not mandatory (tipping is based on service not the bill so even if a regular doesn’t leave a tip, they can’t be charged for it) I then asked to speak to a manager, she said she was the manager, and she then said that I didn’t have to pay the 18% fee. Went with a party of 9 since our other favorite place was packed. It was Cinco de Mayo so I get it being busy. Once we got our table, it took 20 minutes for a server to come over. Our drinks took forever and came randomly, food came out at random times. My son's food was forgotten and when it did come, it was inedible. He said his school lunch was better and we got him Mcdonald's after. No he is not a picky eater. He got soft beef tacos. I tried it, it was flavorless. Everyone at our table said how bad that food was and how dry the chicken was. Rice was old and dry, refried beans tasted like they were out of a can. Honestly was surprised our drinks werent powder with how dry and tasteless everything else was. We were all hungry so we ate what we could. But seriously if I could give no stars I would. I would never go back, don't even care about the money. We tipped the waitress cause it wasn't her fault but the managers should be ashamed as they were standing right by us, never acknowledged us, even though we had no server for 20 minutes to begin with. If you are out of options and want Mexican, go to Taco Bell instead. Felt bad for all the people that ordered takeout as they were probably equally disappointed but at least they were home where they could make themselves a sandwich instead of having to try and eat this as if it were some sort of fear factor food challenge.

I ordered here for the first time doing the take out, and expected what a typical Mexican restaurant provides which is great food with lots of flavor. I ordered enchiladas and the carne asada, when I got home I was in total shock of the quality that I received. First my carne asada was cold and fatty, when I picked it up and looked under it it was greasy and pale while the top was tanned, it was bland and disgusting. The rice and beans were cold and the rice was hard as if the hot it from the bottom of the pot. When I ordered they told me food would be ready in 20 minutes, I was there in 15 minutes and when I got there the food was already bagged and sitting on the table, no wonder it was cold. Overall it was so bad I actually had to call them back and report it to the manager to get a full refund, so I took the food back and got my refund, I was very disappointed that I had to drive all the way back there.
