I gave 2 stars solely because the manager ended up being awesome & understanding. Went here for a birthday lunch with my husband & wowwww. Stephani, our "server", was absolutely awful. Awful, awful, awful. She clearly had an internal issue with people because she was only nice to ONE table in her section of 5 tables. We sat down & watched as she walked past ALL of her tables to focus on one single woman who was clearly about to tip her little to nothing for her salad & water. She walked past us so many times without even a simple "Hi, be right with you!" that her manager had to come serve us. She took our drink order, brought the food, brought plates/napkins/silverware, basically did everything Stephani should have been doing. We had to keep getting up to ask for stuff because Stephani wouldn't acknowledge us. It was my husband birthday so you can only imagine how angry I was at how she was treating us. The lady she focused on tipped her less than $3 while the other tables who ordered drinks, apps & food tipped way more. Poor thing was so rude, I ended up tipping her WAY more than she deserved & let her manager know she was terrible. I was a server for years in the past & actually worked at the Chili's that used to be located here so I know she could have at least pretended to do better. Not sure why she was so rude to those of us who were nice to her 😂 We didnt end up finishing our food because it tasted like it was all frozen food that was just microwaved. The drinks were great though. Take the trip to the Austin, TX location, wayyyy better.

The first thing I noticed about Chuy's was the outdoor facade. The colors reminded me of just about every Mexican food place I'd seen back home in Texas and New Mexico. They were those colorful but somewhat muted pinks and greens. But, once I walked in, it was the smell of the delicious food that really made me feel at home. I looked to the right and a woman was making flour tortillas there in front of me. I looked to the left and cozy booths and spacious tables were filled with people with smiles on their faces. Our party was large, as we were saying goodbye to a colleague. That didn't matter to our servers. They were very courteous and on time with drink and chips refills. The salsa that came with the chips was just the right mix of spicy and tasty. It wasn't salty. It was probably made that day as it definitely didn't taste like salsa out of a can. I ordered the enchilada stack: blue corn tortillas stacked on to of each other with cheese and chicken in between. It came smothered in a delicious red sauce that was not salty nor oily. The beans and rice that accompanied it were made just right. My colleague had some fish tacos that looked and smelled delicious. No one at our table complained about their food, and we all left happy and full.

Came here many months and didn't think it was very good. We came tonight to give it a second chance. Evelin was helping us tonight. She was friendly, organized, and efficient. The salsa that came with the chips was on the spicy side. The creme jalapeno sauce was the star of the night. I could put that sauce on everything we ate tonight. My steak burrito with hatch chili sauce was well seasoned and spicy in a good way. I was craving for something flavorful all week and this meal did the job. We will definitely come back soon! Went back to Chuy's again. Lily did a great job as our server. Chicken fajitas was flavorful. I got Fajita Beef Burrito with Boom Boom sauce which was amazingly good. Update: new menu and the food serving seems larger tonight. The flautas and the tortilla soup were excellent. Queennie our server did a fantastic job taking care of us.

If you’re looking for a laid-back Tex-Mex joint with bold flavors and personality for days, then Chuy’s should already be on your radar. Known for their “Big As Yo' Face” burritos and fresh-squeezed lime margaritas, this place brings that authentic-but-fun Texas spirit to the DMV in a way that keeps locals coming back for more.

First Impressions: Quirky, Comfortable, and Crazy About Chips From the moment you step into Chuy’s, it’s clear this isn’t your average chain spot. The atmosphere is colorful and offbeat, with that Texan diner-meets-cantina energy. You'll find playful touches like the restrooms labeled “El Mens” and “La Womens”—because why not? Whether you’re a first-timer passing by during Happy Hour or a longtime fan with cravings for homemade salsa, Chuy’s delivers big on comfort and character.

The Food: Fresh, Flavorful, and Freakin’ Huge Cravings beware—Chuy’s doesn’t hold back. Here’s what regulars (and curious newcomers) can’t stop raving about: Shrimp Tacos – Fresh, well-seasoned, and priced right. Cheese & Avocado Dips – Creamy, craveable starters that disappear fast. Boom Boom Sauce – Spicy, tangy, and totally addictive. đŸ«” Veggie Tamales – A pleasant surprise, even for folks who don’t usually go meatless. Ground Beef Burrito – Heavy, hearty, and hits the spot every time. Fresh Chips & Hot Salsa – Made fresh several times daily—and yeah, you’ll want seconds (or thirds). Even non-Tex-Mex fans admitted this is the one place that changed their mind.

The Drinks: Margarita-Ready & Happy Hour Approved The margaritas are legit—fresh-squeezed lime juice, just the right kick, and totally worth it during Happy Hour (3–6 PM). Whether you're sipping something classic or fruity, Chuy’s knows how to balance boozy with refreshing, perfect for unwinding after work or kicking off a weekend adventure.

The Vibe: Casual, Quirky, and Surprisingly Chill Don’t expect anything fancy—this is the kind of place where you come as you are. Families love it, groups flock to the bar for game nights, and even solo diners enjoy the open layout and friendly staff. There’s plenty of parking, handicap access, and bar seating with TVs for easygoing nights or post-shopping recovery (hello, Black Friday diners).

The Service: Friendly Faces & Refills Galore Reviews consistently praise the accommodating and upbeat staff, especially at the bar. From patiently helping with menu choices to keeping the chips and salsa flowing, the team at Chuy’s knows how to make you feel like a regular—even on your first visit. Sure, service consistency could be better during peak hours, but most visitors leave with a smile and plans to return.

Pair the Flavors with the Right Vibe After you fill up on burritos and dip, why not elevate the experience even further? Whether you’re heading home to unwind or planning a creative night in, PullUpDC has your back with premium cannabis delivery across the DMV. Because nothing pairs with Tex-Mex quite like a good high and some post-meal chill.

Final Verdict: Flavorful, Fun, and Full of Heart Chuy’s isn’t just about food—it’s about good times, full plates, and feel-good moments. It’s perfect for: 🌯 Burrito lovers and salsa snobs đŸč Margarita seekers and Happy Hour heroes đŸ‘šđŸ‘©đŸ‘§đŸ‘Š Families, foodies, and post-work crews Cannabis connoisseurs looking to pair their meal with mellow vibes via PullUpDC

Rating: 8.7/10 – Big portions, fun vibes, and an atmosphere that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Bring your appetite, your friends, and maybe a pre-roll or edible from PullUpDC to make the...

Since this place opened a while ago, I have been meaning to come here for a meal. I finally had a chance today. My wife and I tried to do lunch dates over other Friday, and I finally convinced her to eat here.

First, I really enjoyed the decor and atmosphere. It is fun, the colors of the walls are pink or some other light pastel color. The employees are incredibly friendly, greeting us as we came in.

Second, the menu is huge! So many things to choose from! I ran into a little bit of analysis paralysis with this menu, but that is a good thing. I rather have a lot to choose from instead of very little.

Third, the table comes with free homemade tortilla chips and homemade salsa. They are both delicious! The salsa is slightly spicy and is made with fresh tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, and lime. It is a tangy flavor and incredibly refreshing to eat. the chips were thin and crispy, and warm if they had just taken it out of the fryer. Together, heaven. Our server ensured that the bowl of salsa is never empty for too long and the chips kept coming. I loved this because some places do not take care of their customers this way.

Ultimately, I chose the Elvis Combo Plate for my meal, which includes a taco, several enchiladas, and a cheese dipped taco shell. I enjoyed it all! My only complaint would be that I wish the ground beef in my taco was a bit more flavorful, but I am not nitpicking. It was still a delicious taco. The enchiladas were great.

This is a Tex Mex restaurant, and it is not ashamed of it. If you are looking for authentic mexican, this is not it. However, Tex Mex is another category of food that is amazingly done here. I would come again.

I am so glad Chuys opened here. I'm coming...

This wasn’t a great experience and I think that the Management of the restaurant should have realized how bad their server was in the weeds. I went with my sister and three year old niece for a birthday lunch. It was a rainy Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was not that busy. We were sat and it took approximately 10 minutes before a server came up to even acknowledge us. He seemed out of sorts and took our drink order. We waited maybe twenty minutes to get our drinks while we watched our same server move slowly through other customer orders. We ordered our food once our drinks came but it was hard to not see that almost all of the customers in our section were extremely frustrated as they were either waiting to order or pay their bill but after we ordered our food it seemed that our server went MIA. I believe it was one of the managers that ran our food to our table. It was a gentleman that appeared to be running things in the dining room and in the kitchen. As we were eating our food, we noticed that the server had reappeared. I thought he would come over to our table to check on us but didn’t see him through the course of the meal. As we were finishing up, I mentioned to him that we needed boxes and would take the check. It took forever to get that as well. I paid the bill and just wanted to get out of there as I thought maybe I should speak to the manager then but after being at this place for almost two hours during a not very busy time I was just ready to get out. I understand that the help situation is fairly rough everywhere but please don’t just hire a body to fill a slot. Clearly our server had no business serving customers and the experience left a really bad taste...
