We were looking for a kid-friendly restaurant to have a relaxed family meal at. I used to work for Denny's a couple decades ago and I've eaten at them a couple times a year since, so I thought I knew what to expect, more or less. I'd never been to this location and I hadn't been to any in the last 6 months or so. I guess Covid hit them hard, because they are cutting corners and prices have skyrocketed.
This restaurant is older, but clean and spacious. We were sat right away. Our server was quiet, but not rude. She did not attend to our drinks at all. My daughter's glass sat empty the entire meal. In a party of 4, everyone's food came out as expected, except for mine.
They have some new menu items, including lasagna and mac and cheese. In the images, they are both cheese-covered and baked to perfection. I love both, so I ordered lasagna with a small side of mac and cheese. I had a conversation first with the server about whether the mac and cheese was actually high-quality and baked or more like Kraft (which they still have on the kid's menu) with cheese melted on top. She assured me that it was a good, baked mac and cheese. What I received was a bowl of macaroni noodles in a cheese sauce with no real cheese to be found.
Unwilling to spend nearly $5 on a tiny bowl of processed cheese, I sent it back and decided to wait for my lasagna. My lasagna took 15 minutes longer than everybody else's food. I got to just sit there and watch them eat.
I am including a menu picture of the lasagna and then what I received. The pictures really speak for themselves. It was so overbaked that the cheese on top was black and the pasta was hard and crunchy, harder even than unbaked pasta. The marinara sauce was an oil lake. Denny's used to have a surprisingly delicious marinara on their spaghetti and meatballs, but they discontinued the dish and apparently the sauce, too. The dish was inedible.
I ended up having just mozzarella sticks for dinner and some of my daughter's chicken strips. At the end, still hungry and truly disappointed, we discovered that we were being charged for the mozarella sticks, even though the manager had asked if he could get me something else to eat after seeing the lasagna. When we asked why we were paying for the appetizer-turned-dinner, he made it sound like he was being generous by not making us pay for the lasagna.
The next day, my daughter and I who shared the same food have been sick to our stomachs all day.
We will not be back to this location and possibly not to any...

Read moreThis Denny’s is my favorite restaurant but today was a very disappointing day with my service and food. First was the greeting and seating ,then when I order my food there were items missing because the waiter forgot to put it in the order. Then When I was about to take a sip out of my coffee it was cold. Once I got my food served there were no silverware’s to eat with my food with. That being said the worst came where my wife spotted a hair on her side mayonnaise, then I noticed that my 7yr old daughter refused to eat her kids spaghetti, I was like make sure you blow it because its hot and she said its not that dad there’s something in my spaghetti. As I took a look there’s A BIG NASTY FLY. As I told my waiter Marco’s there’s a fly in my daughters spaghetti, he looked at me as in a disbelief and started arguing with me that there is no way that fly came from the kitchen. Thats were I lost my cool and told him, LOOK MAN if you think I placed this fly intentionally to avoid paying my bill “ YOUR MISTAKEN” Thats the last thing in my mind to avoid paying my bill. This isn’t my first time dining at this location, as a matter of fact I drive all the way from Stafford VA to eat here because I once believed it was a great place and great food. But now that wont be the case, I will no longer enjoy any denny’s because my daughter now will refuse to eat food because of the bad experience she encountered. Now my daughter thinks its her fault that Marco and I had a argument. With my experience I ask that you please inspect your meals before...
