Disappointed & Embarrassed After a Special Day
We came to Berd’s Bar and Grille after my son’s graduation mass and reception, hoping to end a memorable day with a good meal. Unfortunately, the experience left us completely disappointed and embarrassed.
There were several families with kids in the restaurant, many of whom were hanging out near the bathrooms where there are games. Right before our food arrived, a man came storming over to our table, slammed down our check, and demanded that we pay and leave. We were completely baffled. Without warning or explanation, he turned to my son’s friend and accused him of deliberately destroying the men’s bathroom. When the boy denied it, the man claimed “20 people” had said otherwise and added that he would check the cameras.
At that moment, the entire restaurant was staring at us. We were shocked, wrongfully accused, and humiliated. What was meant to be a celebratory dinner turned into a moment of confusion, embarrassment, and disappointment.
Our server, who was very kind, came over shortly after. I asked if the man was a manager or the owner: surprisingly, he was just the bartender. The lack of professionalism was astounding.
We ended up taking our food to go and leaving, unsure if we’ll return. Thanks to the bartender’s actions, what should have been a joyful evening for my son and his friend turned into an upsetting memory. We hope Berd’s takes this as an opportunity to reflect on how guests are treated, especially during family...
Read moreToo bad the chef was smoking pot, maybe that was the owner (Tuesday, Oct 18 @ 7pm, tall male, black shirt, white/grey cap). It WAS a great place when it was “Tavern on the Green”, now that was a neighborhood place! The new Berds is just same-ole! No steak dinners, the chili is horrible and it just doesn’t have much of an appeal except location. Hope the owner is listen, better-yet doing something about the cook smoking pot while working. Same-ole, Same-ole, nothing worth writing home about… SAD….
If you’re liking this Berds Place, then you never experienced Tavern on the Green. Don’t let your friend gathering obscure reality. Sorry some things set a standard while others just try to look good but really aren’t. Berds, clean-out the menu, make it GREAT and start a TRADITION where people WANT to come , not just because it’s close by. They sell beer and basic adult beverages everywhere. Where’s Berds selling point? Location? That’s about it. Again…. SAD but hopeful!
Truth hurts but facts matter.
Funny how people SETTLE for LESS, make it GREAT, demand MORE! Feelings matter but gosh-darn…...
Read moreThis past Sunday was our fourth and last visit. The sandwiches and sides were all swimming in grease. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich after the server told me it was "great". In reality, it was complete garbage, consisting of fat, skin and gristle. I sent it back and ordered a fish sandwich instead. The rye bread was greasy, and both fish fillets were small and were saturated in oil. The sandwich contained one small slice of tomato, and a small leaf of lettuce which was stale. The whole inside of the sandwich was slathered in tartar sauce which was gross. Like everything else we ordered, the tater tots were totally greasy. [The cooks who are manning the kitchen need to take a serious course on proper food preparation.] To add insult to injury, both bathrooms were very unsanitary (with a strong smell of sewage gas emanating from both bathrooms, and the men's bathroom having urine all over the floor). Avoid this place at...
