So I left a Google review of this particular place before but service lately warrants an updated review. I drive 25 minutes ONE way to purchase food for my family. And truth be told...the food is worth the drive. The quality of the food and the variety of sides offered are all great and reasons why I drive here when fish is on our dinner menu. The wait to get your order taken and receive your food seems to be getting slower and slower. I do consider that this is not a fast food restaurant and offer grace but the wait is still way too long. Now, maybe its just me but my family typically uses 1 pack of tarter sauce per piece of fish. Please explain to me "Captain D's" why if I get 10 pieces of fish I am only ALLOWED a MAXIMUM of 6 packs of tarter sauce according to your employees?!? When did you all start "policing" how much tarter sauce someone can have?To make this productive and not just a complaint session may I offer a suggestion...Chick fil a, known for quality customer service, asks their customers IF they need any sauces, what kind AND HOW MANY. I understand those packets cost money and why you would not want to waste money by giving people packets they will not even use, but when customers pay money at your restaurant and ask for a certain number of tarter sauce packets for their fish and they are refused...I don't believe that is ACCEPTABLE! Please strongly consider this suggestion to improve your...
Read moreSo sad to see this Captain D's in such poor repair. Cleanliness is really in question, as well.
For some reason, the "baked potatoes" that are served are never really more than lukewarm. This has always bothered me, giving me concern about bacteria growth. I asked for them to please microwave mine, but that was not done, so I threw the potato away. The faux butter wouldn't even melt on the spud. The fish left a lot to be desired, as well, unfortunately. It was mostly batter, greasy and overcooked.
I'm really disappointed because I have always preferred Captain D's over the other place on Rt 4, especially since the employees at CD had, in recent past, always been fabulously polite and friendly. Today, I heard someone in the drive thru giving the counter person a hard time for the length of time they had waited to order, and the employee pointed out that they are the only one working counter. I felt a bit sorry for the employee, but I have to wonder if perhaps the owner has cut some corners by not having another person working. Or, maybe he can't find any workers. I don't know about that...just that the restaurant is really suffering. As it is now, I don't think this restaurant would pass a Board of Health inspection. I really do hope they can pull it together and Captain D's can resurrect themselves. As for me, probably won't be back unless I see evidence of...
Read moreand when the girl read it back to me she said okra I corrected her to make sure I wasn't given okra she was laughing and talking with another employee this was on 5/30/24 when I got the food I asked again broccoli right and not okra & was told yes broccoli. I GET home 20mins later and there's okra with my family meal I call and speak to someone who says he's a manager and he Takeshi my name and says I can come back and get the large broccoli. I called the store GM on his (937) area code number left him a detailed message and to please call me back for my refund of the entire meal no one in my family eats okra but today it's 6/16/24 he never returned my call and I just left Captain Ds and the manager Maliah was rude and short with her words she refused to help me because I didn't have my receipt from 3 wks ago but I called spoke to a manager and left a detailed voice mail to the GM who ignored me . I give this place a 1 start because customer service is everything in doing any kind of business you want to treat your customers with empathy and respect when thighs go wrong with meals it was a $38 family meal that got ruined with no healthy green veggies on Memorial Day! Today it's Father's Day and we decided to give them a try and once again rude and I never even got my broccoli! This is bad...
