We have always loved Centro. We frequent their take out pasta and celebrate all of our large events here normally. (Engagement, anniversaries, birthdays, etc). We chose this spot for Mother's day after not being able to see each other for almost a year and we were very disappointed in the service. I booked this 3 weeks ago and was told that we would be under a tent - I also confirmed this twice the week leading up to the event. When we arrived (3pm) we were outside behind the tent, with no heaters, in the cold and it was about to rain. We waited 15 minutes before anyone took our drink orders. I asked twice for heaters and was told on the second time that they would not be moving them to the back of the tent. We were told they could move us inside but that we needed to be out by 5PM. We understood this and promptly moved inside (now 3:35) where the front staff told us we couldn't sit there. After this was resolved we waited another 20 mins before being able to order. The waitstaff was very nice and accommodating but the service was slow - we did not get our meals until 4:40. We did not mind but we also assumed that the management conveyed the time crunch and enjoyed our meal together. We were offered dessert and coffee and while finishing this up we were rudely told by our new waitress that the time was after 5:30 and that we were told we needed to be gone by 5. We were just getting the bill at that time and leaving.
I was shocked by the mismanagement of not only our reservation but also by how it was handled. We send a lot of business to this establishment by word of mouth to clients and friends from out of town. We have always enjoyed the food but now after our family being offended by the management yesterday I think we will need to find...
Read moreWe arrived and there were only a few tables seated in the dining room, and the hostess sat us at an awful 2-top right next to a small server station, where a server was bent over and his behind was in the chair I would have been seated at. Not sure why she would chose that one table over all the empty ones but kindly moved us. I received my Pelegríno with a cup of ice, not sure why bottled water is served with ice, that’s terrible water etiquette. We received our wedge salad and was disappointed that they do not serve blue cheese dressing, what type of wedge salad doesn’t have blue cheese? We didn’t eat it. Our prosciutto wrapped shrimp smelled rotten and we did not eat that either. The prosciutto was an off color and smelled awful. Our chicken parm was standard. The worst part of our meal though was listening to the staff in the back talk about “spending the weekend throwing up” followed by gag noises. Listening to gagging sounds isn’t exactly enjoyable when trying to have dinner. This went on for about 10 minutes. Our server was nice though, and another woman was extremely friendly and complimented my boyfriend and I being a cute couple. That’s the only reason why I’m not giving 1 star. However...
Read moreThe hostess, Suzanne, was straight out of a scene from Pretty Woman. She yelled at me for walking past her into the restaurant. I didn’t realize she was the hostess as she was laughing and talking to a young man and I had just walked into a dark restaurant from a sunny outside with eyes that don’t adjust well to light changes due to a disability. Then she told me there were no available tables when the patio was half full. Then she turned to another party behind me and immediately sat them outside. Then when she did sit us outside (after I said “but I see so many empty tables?” ) she put us at a table in the sun by an entrance to the tent. The bus boy approached and asked us if we’d like to sit in a more comfortable spot so we moved. When she walked back through with another party she looked at us and said” you can’t just change tables” and walked away. We live in town and are also affiliated as parents to a student at one of the universities where many out of town parents ask us where good places are to eat. I would feel terrible if this hostess were to treat other people in this manner after we made a recommendation for them to visit...
