Last night we went to Colony to grab dinner before a show at the FTC, like weâve done many times. Weâve been going to Colony for years now, but after last nightâs experience, we will never be back to this location in Fairfield. We arrived around 6 PM and expected there to be a wait because itâs Friday night. The hostess told us the wait would be up to 45 minutes, so we decided to go to the bar area to wait. A few of us ordered a drink and cashed out our tabs because we were expecting to be seated shortly. Around 7:15 we asked the hostess if our table was going to be ready soon and she said even though the app said there were zero parties ahead of us, it didnât mean that weâre going to be next, so we decided to just order pizzas at the bar because we had to be at the show at 8 PM. Within the minutes of ordering the pizzas, we got the notification that our table was ready. We then went and sat at the table after we checked in with the hostess and she told us it would be no problem to have our pizzas come to the table instead of the bar. Right as we sat down the manager came over and told us that they normally do not allow people to move food from the bar to a table, but she would let it go for this time. Less than two minutes later she come back and tell us that we were not able to sit at the table and that we had to go sit at the bar. There were seven people in our party and she said there were four seats available at the bar. Well, when we got to the bar, there were only two seats available. We were with my father who recently had a stroke and is unable to sit in the high bar chairs and there was no way that we were all going to be able to eat our pizzas at the bar with two seats. By this time it was 745, so we asked the manager how long our pizza would be before it came out and she spoke to us very condescendingly and accused us of wanting to skip the line. That is not at all what we were doing. We had been there for almost 2 hours waiting very patiently and had already cashed out our tabs at the bar. I have never been to a restaurant where they are unable to move food from the bar to a table. Never. The manager did nothing to accommodate us or acknowledge that they they were wrong in telling us we could sit at the table. It wouldâve been one thing if she was nice and understood where we were coming from, but instead, she accused us of trying to skip the line and get our food ahead of other customers. We never got our pizza after being there for two hours. We ended up getting pizza slices from the place a few doors down, and just go there from now on if we have a show to at the FTC. I do not recommend going...
Read moreWhen we arrived the place was packed and we waited in the line, we asked how long the wait would be and we were told 25 minutes. Other people arrived and were seated before us. I assume they had a reservation? but I dont know how this place runs. After 30 minutes we ask the host again how long the wait will be because we have been waiting to be seated for quite a while at this point, she said that she could get our name and the wait will be 25 to 30 minutes. We decided to just leave after that because we are not going to wait any longer just for pizza. Overall the place was packed, we were not greeted by the female host, we waited for nothing, and the place seemed packed and disorganized with people walking in and out. The queue line is next to bathrooms for what i think is the rear entrance which made it more chaotic. I just dont understand why they would have this many people but nowhere to sit and wait, it felt akward just standing in what felt like a 5.5 foot wide little hallway. Overall poor hosting service, the woman didnt greet us neither bother ask us for a name to reserve a name on the list. If its a name she wanted she should be asking the guests for it instead of standing around...
Read moreEdit* while most of my original view is still accurate, great pizza but the original service experience was never matched again. Been here a dozen times since my son's in school in the area. The service is just downright below average. You're good if you get two drinks, the order always seems to be missing something, and once you please show order, you become invisible to the staff. Stopped in last night, the original pizza order was wrong, did not provide the hot oil on the side and took us quite a while to order a second round of drinks, which included one seltzer and one beer, the beer never came. The way they tried to give it to me when you're ready to check out but I wasn't interested at that point. I originally had this place at five Stars but I'm taking two away. Tell me to diminish great pizza they make but I can't look past the service.
Great pizza and even better service. It was worth the 15 minute wait.
Calling out our awesome server, Johnny!! He took the time in a crowded dinning room to make us feel like we were the...
