There's an amazing children area in one of the historic houses on the green. It might be too small if more than 3 children where playing, but we were there alone and so it was amazing.
Edit: I've now been inside and my 3 yr old won't stop demanding to go play with the cars in the museum. There's an interactive toy shop that has kept him entertained for hours, and a holiday train exhibit that he'll faithfully watch for almost half an hour.
For adults, there's an exhibit on the history of the area, which is pretty interesting and takes 1-2 hour to go through.
Overall, small but thoughtfully child friendly. Probably best for elementary school children for playing, older ones might be interested in reading the exhibits. I think it's pretty well priced for its size and contents. We got a membership because I'm pretty sure my son is going to drag me here at least...
