Saugatuck Sweets Fairfield — Restaurant in Fairfield

I called twice to this location during quarantine and today and both times I had an unpleasant phone conversation. I usually go to the location in Westport and even before covid I would always call ahead of time and have them pre-pack my order. They never had an issue to pre-pack it at the Westport location but it seems like the Fairfield staff has a problem to do so. The first time I called it was during the lock down in which I asked if they were doing curbside pick up and the young man answered me that they weren’t that I can just come in....I was not going inside during the peak of a pandemic. I called today and the older man picked up this time and was very dry when telling me I had to come in instead of me placing the order to pick it up. I just wanted it packed and ready so I can just pay and not have to wait for them to pre-pack my order. I find it very careless that they would want someone to stay in the store longer than they need to be especially during a pandemic. Also their website says they take orders for pick up but told me I had to come in. I rather just take the drive and go to the Westport location because there staff is a lot more friendlier than the...

I think this place used to be fun, I’ve heard people talk about it fondly, but it is very subpar and expensive. We came for the ice cream, the freezer clearly wasn’t working well and the ice cream was partially melted. The candy is poorly displayed and the bulk candy looks unappetizing. The tables outside were random and kind of seemed like they were just collected from garage sales or something. I love Fairfield and I want small businesses to succeed, so I would love it if this place made a comeback and cleaned up and became a cute destination for ice cream and candy. Grumpy older oaf (owner I assume) is a NIGHTMARE - recommend people go to sunny daes or another local joint. My mother and I (both adults) went in and asked if they have small cups of whipped cream for dogs. He didn’t answer, so we asked again, and he said rudely and loudly “what’s the magic word?” repeatedly, then said over and over again, “you say please, the magic word is please.” We hadn’t ordered anything yet, simply tried to ask a question. Not surprised the shop was empty - chiding and being condescending to adults isn’t a good business strategy.
