Country Cow Deli — Restaurant in Fairfield

Ridiculously expensive bacon egg and cheese sandwiches. Plenty of other places that put more egg, more cheese, and more bacon for half the price. If it wasnt so convenient for a quick Saturday morning breakfast run, when I want to get back in bed as quick as possible and enjoy a good BEC, I would boycott. But the food is good quality if you don't mind the prices and the people are friendly so 2 stars from me.

Edit: my visits here have become less frequent as the prices increased and customer service decreased. The store was closed for a while, the whole thing renovated and expanded to accommodate their large and loyal customer base. Everything was updated except.... THEY STILL DON'T TAKE CARDS!!! their orders are almost always over $10 (hard not to be with the rising cost of everything in the store). Every time I'm there it seems there is at least 1 customer inconvenienced by this. With all the options for taking non-cash payments these days it's hard to imagine such a high volume business refusing to take credit. When it was small and had a hometown feel this seemed appropriate. Part of the inconvenient charm maybe. After a huge renovation and doubling in size, (paired with the 100+ ways to accommodate credit purchases these days) it's hard to imagine why they would still refuse to accommodate their long time customers with a credit card machine. Maybe there's another reason why they would hold on to their cash...

I'll start off by saying that their breakfast sandwiches are PHENOMENAL. That's the only reason why I keep going back. The cash only thing is a nuisance but what really gets me is the customer service. I go occasionally but not often enough to be considered a regular and I definitely notice the difference in treatment among customers. This morning I called ahead for my order and waited at the register to pick up my food. The cashier completely disregarded me when I began to speak and took the order of the guy behind me! (He walked in the store after me) The guy was clearly a regular since the cashier knew him by name. Even the man whose order he took asked if he was going to take care of me. If the sandwich wasn't so good and I hadn't left the house early just to get it, I would have walked out. I'm not expecting for anyone to kiss my butt or even make small talk but i DO expect to be acknowledged as a paying customer when I am clearly the next person in line.

Food is good. But VERY expensive. Also, VERY disorganized....when you walk in, nobody knows where the line is or where to stand. Also, when you get to the register you need to remember your entire order so they can look for it. This is extremely annoying because alot of times I'm picking up food that was called in by my wife or its just a large order to remember everything. Im so confused why they don't take your name or phone number like every other take out place in the world. It would allow for the line to move much faster, and prevent being given the wrong order as I was on multiple occasions. The employee's are also not the most friendly either. The owner was also extremely rude when I suggested taking peoples names for when they come in to pick up there food, she said alot of people have the same name........ahhh ok. I said why don't you take the last 4 of there phone number, her reply was don't worry about it. But, I was worried about it especially when they screwed my order up not once but twice...
