Last weekend I me and my family had our very first experience with authentic Nepali cuisine, and let me tell you — what a ride! We visited Taste of Everest in Fairfield and the whole evening turned out to be a perfect mix of flavors, hospitality, and comfort.

🔸 Starters & First Impressions We kicked things off with the Chicken Kurkure — crispy, crunchy, and bursting with spice and texture. It set the tone beautifully for the evening. The ambience was calm, relaxing, and just right for a family dinner — nothing loud or distracting, just pure focus on good food and good vibes.

🔸 Main Course Highlights For mains, we tried:

Kukhura Ko Masu – a traditional Nepali chicken curry, and hands down the highlight of the evening. The flavors were bold, rustic, and absolutely lip-smacking.

Butter Chicken – creamy, rich, and perfectly paired with their Butter Roti.

Mutton Dum Biryani – generous in portion, aromatic, and packed with flavor.

One thing worth highlighting — the portion sizes were amazing for every dish we ordered, making it a fantastic value along with the quality and taste.

🔸 Sweet Ending To wrap things up, we tried Gajar Ka Halwa and Mango Lassi. The halwa was warm, comforting, and just the right level of sweet, while the lassi was refreshing and smooth — a perfect balance after such a hearty meal.

🔸 Service & Hospitality What really made the evening special was the service. We were lucky to be attended by the main person running the restaurant himself. He was genuinely warm, patient, and extremely helpful in guiding us — especially since it was our first dive into Nepali food. His suggestions were spot on, and you could see his passion not just for the food, but also for ensuring every guest had a great experience.

💡 Final Thoughts If you’re into Indian, Pakistani, Nepali, or really any kind of Asian cuisine, Taste of Everest is a must-visit. From the food quality and generous portions to the ambience and heartfelt hospitality, everything was top-notch. This wasn’t just dinner — it felt like a cultural experience.

Would I recommend it? 100% yes. Would I go back? Already planning the...

Hidden Gem in Fairfield: Where Your Taste Buds Go on a Pilgrimage and Never Want to Come Back

Let me just start by saying: if you’re in Fairfield and haven’t eaten at this authentic Nepali-Indian fusion spot yet… what are you even doing with your life? Stop reading. Get in the car. Go. I’ll wait.

Okay, now that you’re back and full, let’s talk about what just happened to your soul.

This restaurant is an unassuming culinary temple, tucked away like a secret your foodie friend tries to keep to themselves. But I’m a terrible secret keeper, so here we are. Every bite we had here made us question everything we thought we knew about flavor.

We kicked off the meal with samosa chaat, which is basically what happens when crunchy, spicy, tangy, and sweet all meet on a dating app and decide to make your mouth their first date. Then came the chicken chowmein—a glorious plate of stir-fried noodles so good, even your chopsticks will do a happy dance.

But wait, the real MVPs: Achari chicken tikka – tangy, juicy, and grilled to perfection. Basically a chicken that’s been to therapy and is now living its best life. Rara bhuna goat – folks, this goat did not die in vain. It was so tender, so deeply marinated, I think it whispered a blessing to me. Garlic naan – fluffy, warm, garlicky clouds that you use to mop up every last drop like a civilized caveman.

They also let you pick your spice level, which is both thoughtful and life-saving for those of us who cry at the sight of red chili flakes. Whatever your tolerance, they’ll make sure you’re comfortably on fire.

Now let’s talk about Bhanu, the owner/manager/spice whisperer. This man doesn’t run a restaurant. He runs a home with an open kitchen. His hospitality makes you feel like you’re a long-lost cousin coming back from exile. The warmth, the care, the genuine love for food and people—it shows.

In summary: ✔️ Food: 11/10 ✔️ Service: Like being adopted by your favorite uncle ✔️ Vibe: Hidden gem meets culinary nirvana

We will absolutely be coming back—again and again—until they start...

This is a very small no frills restaurant with only a few tables and counter seating which offers Indian and Nepalese menu items. BYOB. No alcohol served, but you can bring your own. The place is not filthy, but there are some areas that need cleaning attention, including the one restroom. The menus could also use a good wipe down. The server/owner/manager was pleasant but seemed very anxious, hovering around which made it feel a bit uncomfortable, although I am sure he was just trying to be available. He explained that since COVID the business does mostly takeout, but it seems apparent to me that the limited seating/space definitely contributes. We ordered the minced lamb kebab with a medium spice level, mild spice chicken masala, garlic naan and Khyber parantha. A small bowl of rice was served with the meals. The meal took some time getting out, but we did not mind. The minced lamb kebabs came to the table sizzling. The dish was spicy (at med level) and had a complex array of spices. After trying the lamb, I asked for a side of raita, a yogurt cucumber sauce that went so well with the lamb. That took a bit to arrive at the table as it was made upon request. Definitely fresh! The chicken masala was good, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the naan and Kybher paranta were outstanding. There is a small and somewhat confusing parking lot. While we enjoyed our meals, we probably would not return to dine in. 3.75 stars.

We have tried many places for Indian food in the area, and this one was the best by far. It was so exciting that the menu is also half Nepalese, which is much harder to find. We tried the vegetable samosas (just a hint of spice, flaky crust, and great texture on the filling), chicken kurkure (well marinated, juicy, and crispy), panfried chicken momo (well seasoned filling, delicate wrapper, great dipping sauces), chicken korma (it’s my personal favorite anyway, but this was the best I have ever had—slightly sweet, super creamy, tender chicken), and the kukhura ko masu at the owner’s recommendation (rich, aromatic, and tender chicken), with a side of light and bubbly garlic naan. Bhanu, the owner, didn’t want us to miss anything so we ended up with mango lassi, salted lime soda, gulab jamun, and kesari kheer as well. Everything was exceptional, including the attentive and friendly service. They were incredibly accommodating (even going off menu for another customer’s request while we were eating our food), checked about spice levels (which were on the milder side), and truly a family business. Highly recommend, and we will definitely be getting our Indian and Nepalese food exclusively from here moving forward!
