Luna Azzurra Italiano — Restaurant in Fairfield

We have had dinner twice at Luna’s (both outdoors). Food and service both visits were excellent. First time we split crab cakes which were delicious, plenty of crab, great flavor. For entrees we had the veg raviolis and the ling w/ clam sauce. Both were excellent, their chef nailed it. Nice glass of Rose! Our second time we shared the fried calamari which was cooked perfectly with a nice light batter. Entrees were butternut squash ravioli w/ lobster . . . delicious, wonderful flavor. Also had the Zuppa di pesce which was a large dish full of fish including a lobster tail, calamari, clams, and shrimp along with linguini in a lovely spicy fra diavolo sauce . . . again the Rose . . . bella! We will return. This is our new go to neighborhood restaurant. Again, the service and staff are lovely. Wishing them much luck as I know they are rather new and these are tough times...

10/7/23 I ordered two sausage grinders with peppers & onions for takeout. Unwrapped both sandwiches only to find no sausage. The person who I spoke to over the phone told me there no bread left and if I wanted the sausage it would have to be prepared on the side for us. We drove back across town to then get into a dispute that she has the order taken as two sausage grinders without sausage. Although the wrappers were marked with S P as for sausage & pepper and that’s what we ordered I was denied of a refund despite the embarrassment in front of customers and staff. We did not eat the food we tossed it in their dumpster as I was disgusted by their behavior. She couldn’t emphasize enough how customers are always right but then proceeded to treat us with disrespect. Not to escalate things we will not be eating at this...

The food was fantastic! Unfortunately, our waiter was not. There was an unusual circumstance in the kitchen and the were short staffed. We waited for 45 minutes for our food. If our waiter would have explained that the kitchen was short staffed and brought bread or something, I would have felt ok. However, unfortunately, he decided to avoid us entirely. The owner told us about the situation after we paid and brought ice cream to our table, which we refused. We were there long enough. I understand things happen, my complaint is that the waiter handled this terribly. This impacts my decision on dining there in the future...or at least insisting on a...
