The waitress decided to re-authorize my card for an amount that I did not sign for. When I called to figure out why I was charged THREE TIMES, ultimately for 100 dollars more than I had authorized, her manager (Dennis) explained that someone had skipped out on the bill. His exact words were, "What were we supposed to do with the bill?"
Well.. any normal restaurant WOULDN'T do what you did sir. Because it's ILLEGAL.
From server to owner, getting this fixed was a hassle. Ultimately, it was too much of a hassle for MOLTO to fix it so I had to claim fraud with my card company.
Saddest part about this, is if you read through their reviews, you see this has happened to other patrons as well. And, they dealt with the same terrible customer service, ultimately claiming fraud with their credit card company.
If you're still interested in going there, you'll be glad to know that the food is delicious and the atmosphere is quite energetic. However, don't be too hopeful, service was atrocious.
Our server took over a half hour to successfully deliver one round of drinks. An appetizer order was out of the question, she must have not seen half of our party because she kept skipping individuals who wanted to order a plate. She left the table before she completed taking the dinner order, leaving some of the guests out. A round of our drinks ended up being dumped on another customers back. It was interesting to say the least.
When it came time for the bill. She could split it, then she couldn't, then apparently, she was able to. Let me explain, it took us 20 minutes to get the bill (our single, ONE, UN-SEPARATED BILL). We all split it evenly and paid it. Another fifteen minutes after we had closed our bill, she presented us with another check that had to be paid (which she had apparently overlooked for the last 35 minutes). After presenting the check to the guest, the server exchanged some choice words with our guest and stomped off, exclaiming "I'll just take it out of my tips!"
This is where my card comes into play- she, the waitress Alanna or manager Dennis reauthorized MY CARD to cover the expense. Not only did they do this to my card, they did it to EVERY CARD that was used at the table.
Trying to figure out what happened was a hassle, for every single one of us. Every level of management knew/was told a different story, right up to the owner, Dan, who felt it necessary to scold me (like I was one of his children) on the phone because the party I was a part of was late for their reservation. He mentioned that "not a single person was there and the table for 20 was ready and waiting at 8PM." Well Dan, when I walked through the door at 8:01 I met my party at the bar because our table was not ready yet. At 8:10 I sat my tush at a table the was built for 10 wondering where the other guests were going to sit. Don't worry though, we ACCOMODATED YOU when we squeezed 15 of us around that table built for 10 because YOU/YOUR STAFF had not reserved any more tables for us. If you have enough balls to yell at your customers, at least have the facts straight. Your cameras are a perfect reminder of WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED, go ahead and replay them (you might even be able to see your server yelling at our guest). He mentioned that he was a small restaurant and couldn't accommodate a party of our size.... THEN WHY COMMIT TO IT? A) it showed in your service that you don't serve parties of more than 4 at a time. B) Being a restaurant owner, you should understand and be prepared for reservations being late and how to handle the situation (Or may I suggest a dining room manager that knows what he is doing?) ... but the funniest thing is that MOLTO DOESN'T EVEN TAKE RESERVATIONS. So, who made the booboo? Whoever took the reservation. Not me. Right up to the owner (the person who is supposed to be setting the example) customer service SUCKED. I wish there was a prettier term to use but the experience here was a damn failure and a huge disappointment.
I wish you...
Read moreAlas, the oft heralded Molto, a lofty Italian outpost planted amidst a sea of suburban charm, utterly falters in its misplaced presumption of unbroken adult patronage. Verily, one would expect that an eatery ensconced in the heart of a family neighborhood would possess the foresight to accommodate its junior clientele.
But nay, Molto woefully falls short in this basic tenet of hospitality. No kids' cups, high chairs, or boosters - a trifecta of oversight that makes the establishment as welcoming to families as a bull in a china shop. Parents, be warned: this is no place for little Leonardo or petite Isabella to learn their table manners.
Oh, but let not this damning critique sully the memory of Molly, the unsung hero of Molto. This beacon of service excellence shines brightly against the backdrop of Molto's stern and unyielding attitude towards family dining. It was Molly, the consummate professional, who salvaged our evening from the brink of disaster, her effervescence offering a much-needed counterpoint to the restaurant's unyielding stiffness. She is truly a knight among peasants.
Yet, one wonders how an establishment with such brazenly high price points and exquisite culinary offerings can so blithely ignore the demands of the community it claims to serve. Does Molto intend to serve only the childless gourmands of the neighborhood, or is it a mere oversight that their premises are as bereft of child-friendly amenities as a wine cellar?
Indeed, Molto's offerings might dazzle the discerning palates of its mature patrons, but its lofty aspirations are marred by an appalling lack of inclusivity. It remains a bitter paradox, an expensive delicacy ill-suited to the very neighborhood it resides in, much like a truffle in a potato field.
Until Molto recognizes its demographic folly and corrects it, it shall remain a polished, yet tragically flawed gem, its brilliance dulled by the shadow of its own exclusivity. Until then, families in search of fine dining in their own neighborhood might be better served...
Read moreFood good. Service really bad! Hostess did not greet us upon entry. When we were.stsnding in front of her she asked how many of us. I told her 3 and then she immediately asked again for # in our party. I repeated and she brought us to our table. She was unhappy and had a scowl on her face. When I asked if she was having a bad day. She replied "no..I'm just in my head". Once seated our waiter took 10 mins before taking drink order. Waited another 10 mins before he returned with our drinks..which one he spilled on table. We ordered a pizza, a meal and a mozzarella appetizer and then he left and went to the back of restaurant area hanging all over another waitress ...laughing and fooling around. Food brought put by another server...no appetizer. When I asked about it, he did not understand what I was asking for. Didn't speak English. Waiter then came over and I asked where the appetizer was, and he pointed to the pizza and said "mozzarella is on the pizza". He then apologized when I reminded him I ordered an appetizer and said it would be right out. We then asked him for plates as we only had small appetizer plates. He gave us plates and we finished our meals...no appetizer until we finished eating our meals. Waiter in general was inattentive, not friendly and was more concerned with the waitress in the back..literally hugging and hanging all over her flirting and joking. Food was good though. Btw..manager was there walking around and didn't seem to care about the servers congregating in the back ignoring...
