We had a rather expensive breakfast on Sunday the 16th of March. The food was burnt. The toast was stale and the coffee tasted like it came out of an old stinky boot. The eggs were banal. This is sad.
This used to be a Benchmark Breakfast restaurant for us. Having recently returned from a Florida vacation, we always go to the First Watch in Fort Myers, and it sets the bar for all Breakfast/Brunch restaurants. It still does exceed expectations in terms of Food Quality, Service, and Ambience.
We used to consider the First Watch in Fairlawn of high quality, but something has definitely gone wrong. I notified the server as well as the manager of the burnt food. While the server was compassionate, it was already said and done and we were on our way out. We threw food out there.
We NEVER do this.
At the cash register, the manager basically was a wastrel and did nothing except shake his head. I asked him if he was going at least talk to the cooks and tell them to quit burning the food. He said he would. He did not offer to take the potatoes and the bread off of our bill even though we did not eat it.
Considering that it is way too noisy because of extremely poor acoustics, this First Watch is Verboten!

Read moreTrue story. I had just left UH in Cleveland after my colonoscopy and told my chauffeur, uh, err, I mean my daughter that we should go get something nice to eat to celebrate my having received a clean bill of health. On our way back to Fairlawn, I said "Let's go to First Watch. I haven't been there in a while." She echoed the sentiment and we set Google Maps to Summit Mall. Upon arriving, we were informed that there was a 20 minute wait. As I was just starting to come off the anesthesia, I was chill and said "Sure!". I am so glad that we waited. The food, service and atmosphere were 5 star worthy. My daughter had the waffle and cheesy grits. I ordered the carrot pecan pancake, scrambled eggs and turkey sausage. The presentation of the food, especially the cheesy grits, was awesome. The taste of our food was excellent, which complemented perfectly our service. My carrots pecan pancake tasted better with each bite until, sadly, there was none left. Shout out to Riley, our server, whose first day of being on the floor by herself was today. And, she's planning her wedding. Best wishes to her. The only hiccup was that my scrambled eggs were not hot. But it didn't take long before a hot plate of scrambled eggs and cheese were in front of me and devoured with glee. Happy Holidays to anyone reading this. I, uh, uh, err, my daughter and I highly recommend First Watch at Summit...
Read moreI would suggest double checking your online orders. I placed my order and it went through. Then I got a follow up email stating that something went wrong. I didn’t get this information until a left furiously with the way the staff handled the situation. I made the pick up for 10:30. Arrived early by 10 minutes and asked about my order. Was told that it was in the system and would come out shortly. Waited until 10:45, went back into the restaurant and asked again. I was told that it was being made in the order of which it was placed, and they just unexpectedly had a large amount of people come into the store. It should arrive shortly. I asked, my food won’t be cold though? No it will be fresh as soon as it comes out. Waited until a little after 11:00 and walked back in. Noticed that the customers that came into the store after I arrived was enjoying their food. Several tables of customers. Then one of the waitresses came up to the staff and proceeded to tell her that my payment didn’t go through. Then the hostess comes up to me and says that my payment didn’t go through and they would be happy to make my food for me after I paid. I walked away. No food. Wasted my time, my energy, and my gasoline. This is a classic example of the employees not being trained properly, and the management not handling the...
