I wish I took more photos of this place but it's a very unsuspecting place yellow cart in the food cart hub near the end of the block. I passed by it once and it was open for lunch and I came back another day during dinner to give it a try. This place has some delicious butter chicken. The man made it fresh and boy did it smell good. He asked for spice level and medium was great. The chicken was juicy and curry so smooth and buttery. Good amount of curry to rice. I actually put some on a breakfast burrito I got elsewhere and it really enhanced the experience. Reasonably priced around $13. Decent amount of food. Not too much chatting from the guy. Hot and fresh with a fat stack of napkins to help me hold it on the way home and clean up after. Would come back again.

Balaji Indian has become one of my favorite food carts in downtown Portland. This would be a good food cart choice if you want to split dishes with others. I've gotten the Kadai Chicken twice, it's very good. Last time I also got the Lamb Biryani, which complemented the Kadai Chicken well. Make sure you get extra garlic naan bread, it's super good and you can't have too much. The gentleman working the cart is very friendly and seems to take a lot of pride in his cuisine. Definitely a good one to check out when you're downtown.

I had the chicken biriyani. It was a bit too spicy HOT (with chili powder?) to actually enjoy sadly. Not spicy like seasonings spicy. I love seasonings spicy! But with this one all you got was got and you could hardly taste any of the other flavors. I also wish it had more onions. The garlic Naan was fresh but bitter from overcooked garlic, so honestly should've gotten the regular Naan. Customer service was eh.. Wouldn't go again!

Dude we got so much garlic on our naan bread brah that we were drowning in it. It was looking real good. Really good. Like, reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaal good hehe. It was unfortunate that I had a stomach virus that made have to keep going to the bathroom every ten minutes so I couldn't enjoy the food as much but it was definitely worth it for those ten minutes I had this garlic naan in my stomach. Pepto bismol and garlic ain't the best combo but its what had to be done. I am glad I was able to get the food in between a lull at my work, we have been super short staffed and then my stomach virus basically making it splash mountain in the bathroom I am glad was able to get this...

I ordered butter chicken and the agreement was to also provide a naan with butter chicken. I was not provided any naan. On top of this, it had no butter and exactly 5 pieces of chicken. And my friend ordered a chicken biryani where the salan (basically tomato puree) was replicated into so called “butter chicken” with nothing like butter in it. This is a very embarrassing situation between people around commenting like “you just got a tomato curry with some baseless uncooked chicken”. I would never recommend this place to anyone. This made no sense of dining. These places are a filth to dining. Never ever try this place again it’s definitely...
