Stopped in at this place during a thirteen hour car trip. It had a wonderful atmosphere that felt upscale without being overbearing and looked quite nice.
The wait staff was attentive, quick, knew their stuff and were quite helpful when my mom needed a different kind of bread for her sandwich.
I had the daily special 'big kahuna' - an open faced tuna melt and a cup of smoked salmon chowder (it happened to be the daily soup). I also got to try some of the vegetable beef soup since I was dining with some family. Both soups were just perfect - good flavors, rich, good mouthfeel/texture, and amazing execution. While a tuna melt can be simple, they elevated it quite well and each bite was sensational - the spicing felt unique.
My sister had a chef's salad, and while i didn't try it, at a glance I could tell it had amazing ingredients in a good quantity, and as with everything else in this restaurant had amazing presentation. She does say she'd ask to have the lettuce tossed with the dressing before it got to the table if she orders it again.
For dessert I had a crèm brûlée, which I /highly/ recommend. It had a clover garnish that went amazingly well with it. I just grabbed it and was chewing jt while going through my dessert and it added a wonderful herbal note that was incredible. Next time i'd tear it up and sprinkle it over the whole dish, that way i'd have it for every bite instead of a third of them.
My sister and mom had a 'chocolate lover's spoonful cake' which was intensely chocolatey and incredibly rich. My sister loved it, but my mom needed a side of vanilla ice cream to mellow it out.
Also, my sister says the bathrooms were...

Food is below subpar for the price.
A family for 3 with one alcoholic beverage was just under $64.00 not horrible by any stretch, even after the food arrived.
Meals:
#1 Burger with fries. Didn't have any of the burger, the fries were waffle, and undercooked. Color was right, even bit dark, but the starch wasn't gone. I would not have thoroughly enjoyed them.
#2 Chicken Linguini Alfredo. Alfredo sauce was so so, chicken was a processed product, and tasted like it. As it was explained to me, peel the breading off a McDonald's chicken nugget, and it would have been better.
#3 That evenings special, surf and turf. 9 oz ribeye with coconut prawns. Served with vegetables and qarlic mashed.
The veggies were only about 1/4 cooked, were seasoned well, and were colder than my plate was. (I eat my veggies first). Mashed was good, good flavor, they were also colder than my plate. Prawns 2 of them, less that or right at the size of a quarter possibly a bit larger. Thoroughly disappointing. Ribeye, ordered medium rare. Usually don't have much to say, but the steak was half medium and half rare. It was a ribeye. It was good. However it was about as warm as the plate was at the time I started eating it.
Beverage, bloody mary, exactly what I expected to get, went down smooth as silk.
No impressed. Based on past recommendations I would have gone if it wasn't for the generous gift card we received.
I won't do so...
Read moreWe started with Fondue and the pieced of bread was exceptional. My son, Brian, owner of Renew Carpets in Vancouver, and his wife, Rhona, ordered Prim Rib. They looked great. When they cut the Prim Rib I could see that they were tender. Myself, I had linguini Alfredo with chicken 🐔. The chicken was tender and yummy. The noodles wound around the fork nicely. A large spoon came with it to wind the noodles on. That's traditional but not many Restaurants do that. Now the sauce wasn't Alfredo, in my opinion, but was fabulous. It was very creamy. The place was packed but we had a reservation and a table was waiting for us. I had a glass of Malbec wine. I normally never have wine while eating out. But I was just looking at the wine list. The word caught my eye. Why? Because Malbec grapes only grow on small vineyards in NW upper Argentina at 8,000 to 10,000 feet up. They are raised by very small farmers.. Never is any additives added. They have 80 times more antioxidants than vitamin E. It's the best wine for health. I order it for home use. It normally never left Argentina because, the small amount grown wouldn't pay for the shipping. But Will Bonner go a great idea. He fills a large shipping container and ships it to a distributor in CA. One must be a member of their organization to buy. So I suspect that Bumpers is a member. I guess I didn't have to write a book, but had...
