SO, Terri I guess you forgot to call me back! But, that is OK because I really did not want to talk to you again because you were so rude. You did not care what I had to say over my birthday dinner that we dropped over a $100 on and I had the worst dinner in my life, not even to say, worst time of my life (too), and thirsty beyond thirst almost like being in the desert too long without water, yes no refills of water! Even when we asked every time a different waitress approached! Not to mention the huge wait for a table that we had a reservation for and had to sit outside in the cold for well over an hour, and then over 20 minutes before we had our order in-cannot rate the salad, we never got it, but the scallops had so much butter, I thought I was eating a grease pit! I was told by you Terri that waiting was appropriate to do because of COVID 19 even though most of the mandates had been lifted when we dined there, then I was told that it was OK to wait that long because a reservation does not mean you don’t wait for a table when people refuse to leave, but Terri, there were lots and lots of empty tables, and then Terri said something about COVID and spacing yet people were pretty much sitting on top of each other, and that we should have gotten up and gotten the many water pitchers in the dining room (but at the prices on the menu or blackboard, I think we should get service!) anyways I let Terri ramble on about the no salad deal because that can easily be deducted from the bill-but Terri that was not the point, the point was that I wanted a salad with my meal, I would not have ordered one, not to get one and have it be deducted from my bill? What is the point Terri? Then Terri started in on the trouble in the kitchen they are having with line cooks and no help due to COVID-none can help-did i not know that??? So, all this is our fault Terri? Correct? Should you even be open if you cannot get cooks? And there seemed to be a ton of waitstaff catering not to our table but an employees table who was having a birthday party! And then other tables that were having birthday parties! And I was having a birthday too, Terri but we did not get the attention of even a hint of a Happy Birthday! Then Terri invites us back to the restaurant???? WHY would I want to come back? I asked if there was any compensation? And she almost laughed in my face! Well, her rudeness said it all then, She simply did not trust the customer! She would have to do an investigation next, talk to the waitresses that night, cooks, front of the house staff, hosts, and ole JP himself! WOW! Well, Terri I am sure that all these people must have come up with a huge story by now, almost a month later, with no call back from you, or was our money not grand enough?!?? Something! Not even a free dessert offer? For having to rush to get water to drink because all we could think of was how thirsty we were! After dropping a big 100! But, pushing more alcoholic drinks on us was better! So, May was my birthday, then they were closed for vacation, this and that, it was June when she called me and that was my fault too for I called SO late!!!! So, after all those years of being a faithful customer in your Deering tiny spot, you have ‘now arrived’ in Falmouth and no one cares for the customer, just be rude, talk beck to them, and don’t believe their story is the key now according to Terri! Not the LL Bean motto, ‘the customer is always right’ a motto I have lived with since my working days there long ago that I hold as a value, my clients big or small are right! So without the customer what are you? Terri you need to answer that or think about that before you pick up the phone and call anyone again about their awful experience. And, in answer to your question Terri, to try you again (?) the answer is simple, NO, NEVER, NOT going to happen. Remember restaurants prosper by word of mouth….and...
Read moreTruly bizarre experience — we won’t be returning.
My mother and I stopped in for a quick dinner outside at JP’s and were excited to try the new(ish) location — we were longtime fans of the original spot on Woodford’s Corner and even hosted a few private events there over the years.
Things started off well: the host and server were both warm, polite, and welcoming. We ordered wine, stuffed mushrooms, salads, and shrimp scampi. Unfortunately, the mushrooms were incredibly bland — the filling was pasty and flavorless (possibly missing salt entirely), and the crab was undetectable. Not a big deal, though — we didn’t eat them and politely asked if they could be removed from the check.
We were told that staff aren’t allowed to comp anything and were offered the chance to speak with the manager. That’s when things took a turn.
A woman — I believe her name was Erica — came outside with a visible attitude, hands on her hips, already looking irritated before we even spoke. Rather than listening or apologizing, she immediately got defensive, loudly disagreed with our feedback, and insisted they’d never had a complaint about the mushrooms — implying that we must be wrong. After some back and forth (still polite on our part), she eventually said, “Fine, I’ll do it just this time,” and stormed off.
It was such a jarring interaction that the table next to us commented on how aggressive she was. When she returned with the receipt, my mother calmly mentioned how uncomfortable the exchange had been. Erica doubled down, got visibly angrier, and stormed off again, yelling “HAVE A NICE DAY” over her shoulder.
It was honestly surreal. What could have been a minor issue turned into a complete spectacle — all because a manager couldn't handle a very normal customer concern with grace. We left disappointed and a bit shaken.
Sadly, we won’t be returning — not as long as Erica is managing. A little hospitality goes a long way, and this was...
Read moreThe hostess and waitstaff and food were terrific. Service was slow with the influx of call in take out orders on a Saturday night. We sat closest to the hostess station and front door. I suggest in this post that people waiting should wait out doors. Hovering people was not comfortable as dining patrons. A few parties of VERY rude and impatient (Southern people Not Mainers) came in and immediately began LOUDLY complaining to the hostess and were obnoxious and one woman had the audacity to go up two tables to tell the parties that they needed to leave! DEMANDING they had the right to the tables-one party had not yet received their dinners. ! That complaining party then announced loudly that they were leaving- GREAT!! GO!! Another couple walked in (with no reservation) to contest the website said walk ins were welcome and the hostess said they were booked with reservations for the evening and hostess kept being pressed with what was on the website. They protested then left, The next party of 4 were two sets of New Yorkers who came in with their own sets of demands for waiting 9 minutes. That was it- I looked at them and told them they were being very RUDE and as the hostess escorted them to their the table. To all of you people who feel so entitled and better than the rest of us here, get over yourselves! This is Covid . This is Maine. This is a new world for all of us, restaurants and businesses are doing the best they can do with what they can do. Be Kind . Be Respectful. Be Patient. If you cannot accept or adapt to that and you are in Maine DO NOT disrespect us, our businesses. our workers, or our great state and help us keep Maine The Way...
