2020 08-20 I visited the 13th Ave store and had a $9 tab. I wanted to pay with one radio voucher which had $2+ left on it and the rest with one which had $25 on it. Both were non-expired radio station vouchers. The manager said she couldn't deduct the amount from one and then another.
Every manager at, not only this store and every other Applebee's in town, but every manager at every restaurant where I've used these vouchers has done so without any problem whatsoever. For 10 years.
I was also in the same store 3 days before this visit and the manager did it no problem.
Also, why is there so much staff/customer touching happening?! A server was kissing and rubbing her boyfriend at the bar while she was working. She then did a circle around the store touching and tapping everything within reach. Inappropriate, and completely unsafe during a pandemic.
The manager on duty greeted a customer with several hugs and then went to prepare a large table for his guests of about 8, standing in the doorway not allowing anyone to pass thru with any consideration of social distancing. Inconsiderate and completely needless physical contact.
If this lack of physical distancing is happening in the open, what lack of safety precautions and considerations is going on in the kitchen?!
What a disappointing experience. I'll try again in 6 months to see if there has been improvement.
That said, the quesadilla burger was terrific and the fries were hot and crispy (rare for this location during off-peak hours). The food is average and the prices fair but that standout for this location is their staff. Attentive without hovering, polite and friendly without being fake and always professional in appearance and demeanor. Very refreshing compared to other local dining establishments.
Update 09/27/19 ** Visit Their chicken won ton taco's are served (without choice) cold, warm and hot (often one of each in a four taco portion--how is that possible?). I'd like a definite answer on the temp they are supposed to be served as the inconsistency is commonplace. The unpleasantness of the past 30 minutes in the restroom proves to me that at least one of them is incorrect.
Also, training needs to be done regarding the "cheese" dip with the pretzels as I had to send it back twice for tasting like warm flour dip; it had the consistency of melted chalk and was disgusting. I've had it several times in the past few years and it's always been good. Something was undeniably wrong with this batch.
I also ordered a side of broccoli (gotta get some greens!) and was disappointed with the portion (about 7 very small florets) and it was mushy. I'd had it as a side with entrees before and it was much crispier and much bigger florets so I don't know if this was a one-off or not. I'll order again to be sure.
Regardless of the quality of the food today, my earlier review stands regarding the service. Brianna A. was very accommodating (she suggested I try the Alfredo sauce as an alternative to the dip mentioned above and while not being worth writing about, it was leagues better than the previous option) and apologetic. I pleaded with her to try the dip herself and/or suggest a manager to try it to be sure guests weren't being served an inferior product. I am a fan of the restaurant and do not want to see others dissatisfied with something so easily correctable.
Although this visit may not hinder any future appearances, I will most assuredly ask upfront the current temperature of their chicken filling for the won ton taco's as that will affect my order...
Read moreDO NOT COME HERE! THEY STEAL AND WRITE THEIR OWN TIPS ON THE RECEIPTS!! I came to Applebees on 13th Ave on June 9th. It was me, my hubby and his cousin. We came in got seated and Gabriel was our server he asked what we wanted to drink I said a water, my hubby said a water and his cousin joking said a Long Island and said nvm I will do a water too. Gabriel responded back and said okay 3 waters and we said yes. We then ordered our food. When it was time to get our bill I looked over it and it said I was charged for a tonic water that costed $4 I waived him down and said we never got this and he argued and said yes he asked for one I responded and said NO we all asked for waters. He was at first refusing to take it off and so I asked for a manager. A male manger came and I told him what happened and he took it off. I then signed the new bill that was $53.51. Usually im the type of person that will tip always but how he was acting I scribbled out where I would tip and wrote the total as what the bill was $53.51. I did write on the back on the receipt exactly why I didn’t tip because of the whole tonic water situation and being rude. And I then left. Come now the 10th of June today, I look at my bank account and it says I have been charged $63.51 when I call Applebees they said I left a $10 tip. I told them NO I DID NOT! I came back to Applebees to speak with a manager which this time it was a female and she explained that Gabriel’s receipt for me is “missing” and since “it’s missing” he shouldn’t have had a tip. I said no , he threw it away because (1) he was mad I wrote a note on the back and he didn’t want anyone to see it and (2) because he is lying and I never wrote a tip! I scribbled on the tip line so there would have been no way to put any numbers he did that himself! He is a thief! He should not be working here or anywhere that deals with peoples hard earned money! If he would have been respectful in the first place and just took the tonic water off that he put on himself I would have probably left him a tip but with the attitude I said nope! I now have to wait 7 days to get my money back. Also, I said to the female manager that he should be fire he’s stealing she said we need proof i then said look at the cameras she responded with they are only in the bars. I then said I have no reason to lie and she then starts telling me stories about past employees and how they can’t just take peoples words. Clearly if he doesn’t have his receipt and she said her self the only way they can have a tip is if they have proof of the receipts showing there is one that should be enough right there. I also felt like she was making excuses for him. I would advise NO ONE to come here and if you do PAY CASH ONLY because clearly they will write their own tips and are dishonest!!!
I will never come back I have lived in fargo my whole life and loved come to Applebees but after this. NEVER AGAIN! And I will let everyone else be away...
Read moreDo not order. I always order my wings with extra sauce and never get it. On top of that I have to wait for the server to come back and check in to get me extra sauce. I decided to order delivery tonight. I paid for extra sauce and it didn’t come. I ordered 20 wings and got 18. This is not ok. One time is an accident, two is a pattern, every time is the standard that you provide to guests. It is not a lot to ask for an extra side of sauce. It is not a lot to ask for the correct number of items that I ordered. After talking to the manager on duty I was offered $5. I guess I’ll try a different location and hope they can actually serve a correct order.
Edit. Had the same order today and yet again I did not get the extra sauce that I paid for. Maybe I’m just dumb at this point for thinking that basic instructions can be followed. I even ordered 2 extra sauces in case one was forgotten. When the order arrived there was no extra wing sauces but 2 extra blue cheeses that I did not order. I’m not sure what is going on with this location but it needs to be addressed. This is not ok. Asking for a side of sauce is not over complicating anything. Why is this location consistently unable to to complete a very simple order? Maybe get rid of online ordering until you are able to complete a 3 item order of wings and two sides of sauce. You need to do better.
Edit. It happened again. At this point I that I don’t know what to do. Order 2 sides of wing sauce and no ranch or blue. Food came with a ranch and no extra wing sauce. Are they even reading the tickets? Maybe I’ll start ordering what I don’t want to see if they do the opposite and give me what I actually want. Where is the GM on this? It is literally every order. Can’t wait for the $5 gift card from corporate. That will smooth over the fact I’m paying for items I’m not getting and that management and kitchen staff are so incompetent they can’t put an extra sauce container in a box.
