I am not a die hard labbys backer like some friends of mine, but I have been there a handful of times. Most times are "ok". Today me and my family stopped there for some food. Sat down, given menus including some kids menus for the littles.
Deciding what we want, lady at the next table asks if the waitress told us about the grill. No, she did not... Turns out the kitchen is undergoing "updating" and they can't use the grill. Waitress told us only after we asked. They could only do fried food, pizzas and pasta. Turns out that left one item on the kids menu.
We got a few pasta dishes, but when they came out "oh I forgot we can't do bread sticks because they are on the flat top". Neat. Food beyond that was the normal "ok".
Bill was still somehow over 100 dollars. Needless to say, not a cent off for no bread sticks on 3 pasta meals, but the card reader showed 18 percent as the lowest tip amount and the 3 dollar chicken addon made it on that bill with no issue. I don't blame the waitress for the situation, but even a sign on the door would have been great.
I don't know what's happening to this place, but I think management must think the customers know what's going on behind the scenes...
Read moreAs northside residents we visit often. Labbys is known for good pasta but tonight the cheese sauce was watery and bland - not our typical experience. French dip sandwich Philly style was delicious and a new favorite. Fries are comparable to McDonalds but were cold. Beware of their new practice: sign on table tent states a discount is given when paying cash. They don't tell patrons they charge an EXTRA 3% for using a credit card. We called them out on this and server became defensive, pointed to the cash discount sign, said it was a new practice as of two months ago, etc. Credit card transactions are a cost of doing business. Adding 1-3% cost to a $10 entre will go relatively unnoticed by consumers. Passing this cost to consumers is like charging for a glass of ice water or using the bathroom. And it gives reason for patrons to...
Read moreService was good, but rushed. We were wanting to enjoy drinks before food. Asked to order 5 times…and once while one of us was in the bathroom. We have been here before and this time was not the best. The Korean tacos only had a flour shell with shredded cabbage, plain dry shredded beef and a drizzle of a little sauce. The hot ham and cheese did not compare to a previous experience where it was phenomenal. This time seems like the cooks don’t know what they are doing…and based on this experience this is very disappointing. If it was something that would continue, I would not come back for food. Like the atmosphere. Good place to...
