Amongst all the McDonald's in the F-M area this McDonald's is one of the few that were re clean. However, as a former Manager from Detroit Lakes and Perham, I still cannot endorse the food or service. There are seven Mcdonalds in the area; three have very poor ratings in my book. The one on University is the worst for food safety. I ordered their chicken strips and fries, I left the drive thru with one bite of cold fries then I checked the chicken it also was tepid at best. I went back through with the complainnt with hopes of a hot meal. Nope, it was almost as if it just didn't matter. I obtained my new order it was also tepid....my question was did they just turn around and give me the same order? So, the next time i placed an order i asked for hot fries and got burgers "special" order. I was pulled forward and I expected this, therefore, I had high hopes of great burgers. The hopes we're not met even as i waited they had a third car pulled forward. This was a bad sign. I placed my order at 5:07, received my order at 5:23 p.m. . It was cold and the fries were cold even with a special order that I placed expecting hot hamburgers. As I further inspected my meal the apples pie had timed out at 4:58 p.m. I did complain and they said they were writing up free tickets for the inconvenience. I have yet to see these since the first week of August. So my food was expired as I waited in line and the apple pie was served with an expiration time. I do not endorse this McDonald's as well as the one in Moorhead on 8th Street and the one in Fargo on Main. Read moreI expect my issues with McDonald's at this location to be solved probably within a couple weeks. This is a newly renovated McDonald's post-covid. When you walk in it is obvious that they do not want to have contact between a customer and an employee. In other words there is no one at the front desk. They have one register and then they have a few kiosks. interestingly, the kiosk that you first see works. The second kiosk says something about lack of social distancing therefore this kiosk doesn't work it's other side works which one would think defeats the purpose of the kiosks. The biggest problem with this place is they don't know how to operate currently I know this because the actual employee that gave me my food admitted to that she doesn't know what she's doing. The kiosk tells you to enter the code on a table placard and that the food would be delivered to your table. This is apparently has not been communicated to the employees who don't want to come into the dining room. I would recommend a field trip to Chick-fil-A where they could see how employees in the dining room greatly improve the experience. The other thing that bothered me about this location is is that this location is directly across from the Fargo dome and NDSU there is no localization of the decor this is a very modernistic simplified decoration. The other big thing is that they took out the Playland. The food was McDonald's standard, so my tummy is full. I had the same problem as always just didn't wanna leave the bad review.. well the problem I had was after waiting 15 minutes to make a counter order it decided to use the app. After my app order i needed 1 order to go and one I would eat there.. something the app don't give an option for unless you make 2 different orders.. I waited at the counter another 10-15 minutes and my order was brought to my table and during that time no one ever came to the counter.. I have noticed that the counter is ignored even when employees walk right past me.. some people just don't or can't use the app. Some people just want counter service. Which is what I wanted. Yet I was ignored so was a couple besides me and the walked out not ordering nothing and they were there less time I was.. and I didn't wanna seem like a crazy person and have to yell for attention/service.. I hope this can be fixed cause if not I'd rather try the Burger King down the road..
