Jen's Place Bakery & Cafe — Restaurant in Farmers Branch

Update 5/9 - My birthday so I couldn't resist a return visit to eat and my favorite gianu peanut butter cookies for later. Exery thing is still outstanding. This is a hidden gem at the corner of Alpha & Omega Streets in Farmers Branch. Just east of Midway. It is one of those places that you notice out of the corner of your eye and note that they serve food, and it just "looks" like it has to be good. Normally, you are driving someplace else and always intend yo try it "sonetime." A very close friend was in town, so we went to Jen's for lunch. Wow! - Amazing home style cooking breakfast and lunch menu. Dine-in/carry out. Bakery sweets, individual servings, and whole cakes. Amazing giant cookies and also single or whole quiches. and it was really good. Beautiful bright interior with big windows. All service staff were friendly and efficient. I've gotten lunch at Jen's for over 10 years and the dine in servers have been kind and welcoming. I stopped by for breakfast the week of 4/28/25 and then ate lunch today, 5/8/25. Both dates the servers were very unwelcoming. During the breakfast visit, the male server gave me one jam and when I asked for one more, he became annoyed and I waited about 3 minutes before we brought the second package of jam. During my lunch visit, I asked the line server to place my frito chips on top of the chili (otherwise the chips get soft), she rolled her eyes. I've noticed former employees are no longer present in the dine-on serving line and it's unfortunate because for the first time in over 10 years, I will consider a different restaurant for lunch. I’m going to give them 4 stars around but I bet next time I go I will go myself and will get my food and not delivered. I got a feeling they deserved the 5 stars but couldn’t tell just yet. I ordered baked potato with all fixins and grilled chicken was added. It was good but it was warm and not all the way hot. The salad was a plain garden salad but I needed more dressing. My coworker said her soup was okay. She didn’t eat it all but then again she is pregnant and her appetite sways. I see it everyday at work.
