Need the manager / GM to know I’m the gentleman who walked out tonight from my favorite sub shop. I normally LOVE Jersey Mikes. Staying at nearby hotel and walked over in the cold excited to get take out. Came in tonight around 8:20. Store’s door says it closes at 9. 3 employees. One mopping. I had to triple check hours. Other 2 employees cleaning out like they’re closing 40 min early. Lettuce is gone, fatty/curled/not fully cooked bacon pieces left. Asked girl closest to me if I could get sandwich to go (because they appeared to be packing up. Said “pretty please.” Kid mopping says “yeah just cause you said p please”. I’m trying to be polite, he’s trying to be sarcastic.
I order #8, giant and ask if they can cook the bacon so that it’s crispy again politely saying “pretty please.” They throw it on warming grill. But it’s not cooking. She asks what kind of bread. I say “white please.”
I stand back away and then hear her ask if I want it “Mike’s Way”. I look and she’s only made a small sandwich. I kindly remind her it was to be a giant. This seems like hassle for her.
She makes the another small (looks smaller than normal giant sub I love so much.) it’s whatever cause sometimes bread comes out smaller. But not the GIANT I love.
But she makes on the metal counter. Part of the white sandwich boards gone. (Cleaning maybe?) so it’s looking unsanitary. I’m starting to get worried.
She asks if I want Mike’s way.
I say, lettuce, tomato, pickle & mayo, mustard / salt & pepper.
I look away and other guy asks me if I want it Mike’s Way. I’m like where did she go?! Okay so I have to repeat myself again. She reappears with mustard and squirts pool of mustard on one end & then thick line down middle. Not evenly distributed. So my first and last bites would be obnoxiously mustard-y. And no pickles.
I’m waiting for cooked bacon. Said I’d wait while they cooked. But I waited 10 minutes. Only customer in there. Kid walks by periodically and flips the pile of bacon on the grill. There’s no way for it to appropriately cook in a pile.
He finally brings it over and I respectfully object saying it’s not cooked. Ask him how they normally cook bacon. He says grill. And that he could put it back on if I wanted. I said well yeah it’s not cooked. His attitude was one of me bothering him.
So I said, “you know what, nevermind. I can’t do this” and I walked.
The general dismissal of me as a customer, the attitude that I’m preventing them from closing 40 minutes early, the unsanitary conditions of making my sandwich, the lack of listening, me having to repeat myself, the lack of care to accurately make it, the lack of care to evenly distribute ingredients, and the overall atmosphere led me to walk out instead of enjoying a delicious club sandwich.
I would not recommend anyone go to this location. No one deserves that kind...
Read moreFolllow up: I wanted to follow up on my review. This is now 5 month later. I have been back several more times and have notice a great improvement in the sandwiches I have received. The corn meal if any is only located near the bottom of the bread and has been greatly improved. The people at the location have been very friendly and quick. I appreciate Jersey Mike's listening to my concern and correcting the quality they provide at this location.
Original Post: This Jersey Mike's is close to my house, sometime within the last few months they changed the bread. The bread is dry and covered in corn meal. So much so that it feels like you are chewing through sandpaper. I tried given them the benefit of the doubt and visited multiple times. I even sent them customer feedback through their app. However each time was worse than before. Last time the bread was so dry it was crumbling off my steak sandwich. There was so much corn meal on the bottom that it had been baked into it's own crusty hard layer. I have been to other locations and they seem to be making the better original style bread. There is no corn meal and it is softer and chewy like you would expect from a...
Read moreSo I went here wanting to try another place to get a sandwich, I was really excited to see that all the ingredients were very fresh. But I was very disappointed to find out that for the whole Italian style sandwich it would cost $14 dollars by itself! I was a bit shocked but I got it anyways hoping that it would be a fantastic sandwich, but shortly after I realized that it wasn’t better than any other place. Personally I don’t think I will be returning but I really do love the fact that the ingredients are truly fresh compared to their competitors.
UPDATE So my original review was a two star as seen above.... But me and my friend returned to this location with a coupon for a BOGO and I got the Original sandwich and I got to say I was thoroughly impressed with the taste of this sandwich. I realized that I probably just got the wrong sandwich at the time, so I will be returning to this location for my new found favorite sandwich!! So I will be giving a 4 Star rating because the price is still a little steep but well worth it when they send out...
