Looking at the great reviews, I am kinda confused. My experience was horrific.I did not see Dr. Allan, I was with Dr. Allred and I suspect that this is why my experience diverges from the other reviews.
To start off, the rest of the staff here were great! That's what makes me so sad about my visit. But here are the issues I had.
First, my x-rays were blurry. The camera was a handheld and I don't know if it was the camera or just the shots taken, but even I could tell by looking at the x-rays that they weren't good. This was confirmed to me when I sent the x-rays to two other dentists to verify them after my visit. Both told me that they were awful x-rays, too low quality, and that they would need to take new ones to consult with me.
At this point, Dr. Allred came in to discuss the x-rays with me. He remarked to me that I had probably never seen an x-ray of my teeth before, which is a really bizarre thing to say. Did he think I was a teenager? I'm 24, I've been to plenty of dentists and seen my x-rays plenty of times. It just came off as kinda patronizing to me, not sure if that was the intent but its a weird thing to say to a patient in 2020 when x-rays have been around for years. Then, using the poor quality x-rays, he told me I had a cavity on one of my back molars. This came as a surprise to me because I had been to another dentist 6 months prior and they hadn't said anything. As he was talking, he was making it seem like I hadn't been to a dentist in years. He informed me that I needed to have my wisdom teeth taken out and that if I didn't it would make the filling very difficult as it was on a tooth adjacent to one of my wisdom teeth. This seemed odd to me, because the "cavity" was not on the side of the tooth touching the wisdom tooth. It was also weird because I have never had a dentist tell me I HAD to take my wisdom teeth out. Some have told me I may want to look into it, but Dr. Allred went into a flurry of telling me I was getting them out, no options were given.
At this point, without really consulting me about wisdom tooth removal and having a discussion, he begins to tell me that they can schedule it before I go, get me pricing etc. He tells me that I'll be sedated and asks me to pull my sleeve up. He started tapping the vein in my arm. Look, I gotta say that this is so bizarre and inappropriate to do to any customer in any business. I wasn't asked if I wanted to do this, I was being told and given no other options. And I hope that he reads this and thinks about how weird it is. To add to that, I have a serious phobia of needles. Not some discomfort, but a legitimate phobia. I started having a panic attack at this point as he discussed being hooked to an IV and sedated, though I'm sure he didn't realize it because I was able to hold it back pretty well. But this is why I am so dissatisfied, there was NO respect toward me by Dr. Allred throughout my visit. No sensitivity. I was treated like a teenager at the beginning who has never been to a dentists office, then told I am getting my wisdom teeth out and they'll give you the pricing when you check out. He then left the room and I met with the office manager. Fighting tears, I told the her I couldn't afford it right now. THEN I was finally told that I didn't have to do it if I didn't feel like I could at the moment. Not by him, but by the office manager. Dr. Allred is a newer dentist, so I guess he is still learning. Here is my advice to him as a customer: treat your customers with a little more dignity and respect and let them know they have options and choices. To wrap this all up, I drove to Draper to see a dentist who came highly recommended by a friend and he took new x-rays and confirmed that I never had a cavity at all. He also told me that wisdom tooth removal for me was VERY elective at this point and that they weren't giving me any issues. New customers, in my opinion, stay away from Dr. Allred and don't...
Read moreMy family recently relocated from NJ to Utah and needed to find a dentist as I knew we had some issues that needed to be addressed. Dr. Allen was recommended by a neighbor., and I hesitantly booked an appointment. I say hesitantly not because I feared dentists, but because my father was a dentist, my sister is a dentist, and my brother in law is also a dentist. I have never had anyone but a family member work on me.
Joelynn, the office manager is pleasant, friendly, and professional. As the first person you encounter she sets the stage for what you can expect the remainder of the practice to provide, and they do not disappoint.
Both the Dental assistants and hygienists are friendly, patient, and very competent in each task they perform. The office is state of the Art with its dental equipment, which maybe the average person wouldnât be aware of but I was. My children were easily occupied with the TVâs mounted both in front of them and on the ceiling, distraction earbuds were offered as well.
But, when it comes down to it, all the fancy equipment is worthless if it isnât in the correct hands. I was so impressed with Dr. Allen, his chair side manor is mellow and warm. He takes the time to explain in simple language what he is about to do, what the exam found and possible options for treatment.
Unfortunately within a several weeks time, we made quite a few visits to his office. I personally had an exam, cleaning, two crowns, a root canal, and a cavity filled. This was accomplished in only two visits. Dr. Allen works efficiently, thus minimizing your time spent in the chair. My 16 and 14 year old boys also had had exams, cleanings, cavity filled , and bonding work on a front tooth. Dr. Allen does beautiful cosmetic work. I always felt that my family was extraordinary at the work they did, and they are. However at this point in his career, I believe Dr. Allenâs skill level can easily rival that of three dentists with a combined 75 years of experience.
Congratulations to Dr. Allen and the staff of Station Park Dental. You are amazing at what you do. Your skills and work stand for itself.
Thank...
Read moreImportant: Routine cleaning nightmare. I just had a very bad experience at Station Park dental. I just went in for my 6 mth cleaning appointment. I have recently been recovering from a broken foot that had to be X-rayed every month for 6 mths. I asked if I could take my annual X-rays the next cleaning this Fall. (They did have a full set of my X-rays from 2024) I had a tooth pulled in December due to a crown breaking and they also took X-rays then. I have had many X-rays recently. All of a sudden the office manager was sent in to have a talk with me about how this would not be allowed. I must take X-rays. After that the Associate Dentist of whom I have never met came in and tried his hand. He told me I had to have X-rays for my âown goodâ or they would refuse service to clean my teeth if I didnât. It was a necessity and the only choice I had was to do it or leave. I know this office charges fees for cancellations so that worried me. Trust that I wouldnât be charged is gone when you are being told that this is something you HAVE to do. I had no option to decline if I wanted my teeth cleaned. They would not listen to my reasons. I said I was planning on getting an implant this fall. This requires more X-rays. Couldnât I take them all then? I felt pressured to get the 8 X-rays only to have the Associate Dentist say there is nothing concerning with your teeth! I had not complained of any issues to warrant X-rays. Also radiation exposure is real regardless of how low a dose. It is cumulative. It is my right to decline X-rays. I have a brother with stage 4 Cancer. Enough said. I have since called my insurance company and spoke with other dentist offices to see if this tactic is normal. It is not!! Beware! I felt bullied to have...
