Where to start? I’ve been to the flying biscuit in Charleston several times. The service has always been top notch and the food delicious. Therefore I was beyond excited when one came to Knoxville! My friends and I went on a Saturday and had a 30 or so min wait (no big deal; it was a Saturday at 11). We were sat and our server was with us fairly quickly. Drinks were ordered, but when they arrived a coffee was iced when it was asked to be hot. No problem: another was ordered. We then placed our food orders. About 5 min later still no coffee. Ok, we get it; it is pretty busy. Our food arrives in spurts: first two plates arrive, about 3-4 min later the next 2 plates arrive, and 3-4 min after that the final 2 plates arrive. And still no coffee. We remind the server about the coffee and are told it will be right out. Now to the food: it was so underwhelming I was more than disapppinted. The biscuits and gravy 4 people ordered only had a bit of gravy (in Charleston the gravy was overflowing). The stuffed French toast (which I highly recommended) was less than stuffed: half the French toast had nothing on it. Every person at the table was very disappointed in the food. Oh, still no coffee. We chalked it up to the restaurant only having been open a few months. So it’s time to pay our separate bills. One person noticed that the gratuity was already included (we thought that odd since we were a party of 6, but ok that’s fine: less math for us to do!). However, the gratuity added was 25%!!!!!!!!! I thought standard gratuity was 15% (let me add here I never tip less than 20%). Again, ok fine. Now here’s where I had a problem: there is a cash price and a cc price. I pay the cash price knowing what my change should be. She comes back and the change is incorrect. I tell her my change is not right. She proceeds to tell me what my bill was (the cc price). I told her that was the cc price but I paid cash. She said she wasn’t trying to argue, yet she was. I asked if she could reprint my bill so I could check in case I was the one who made the error. Nope. Instead about 6-7 min lay she came back to our table and tossed my remaining change on the table. WHAT?????? Oh, STILL no coffee………… it finally arrived in a to go cup which had coffee running down the sides (sigh…….). We did speak to a manager about all the issues we faced while there. She was very kind and understanding, offering to pay for our next meals and giving us each a $5 off coupon. Unfortunately it will be a VERY long time before I go back (unless I’m in...
Read moreWe visited on a Sunday after church. There was a full house. We had a group in 10 and volunteered to be separated. We were seated in less than five minutes in 2 adjacent booths (2 grandparents & 4 children , 4 adults). Our server appeared quickly to take drink orders and they were delivered timely. The orders for our table were 2 kids waffles, 1 kids pancake, 1 kinds chicken tenders, Chicken, Biscuit & gravy, and Smoked Salmon Benedict. Thirty minutes later 2 waffles were delivered. The waffles were huge!! 5 minutes later, 2 more waffles were brought out. We explained what our order was. Our original server came to explain it would be a few minutes fir cooking the tenders. The chicken & gravy meal was then delivered. The gravy looked gloppy and left over. It tasted very good but was barely warm. The tenders & a very small pancake were delivered. This person noticed we were missing a meal. Asked what it should be, and returned to the kitchen. The smoked salmon Benedict was delivered in about 10 minutes not even warm. I guess it was smoked salmon - maybe a teaspoon of very small cubes of meat on each half. Our server asked how we wanted the check divided - 3 ways. 10 minutes later checks arrived- we had credit cards ready for her to take. Fifteen minutes later she came back with the checks and apologized for taking so long. All in all, we were seated for an hour & 20 minutes, had ill- prepared food, and had a 25% gratuity added due to our large group (they explained this as they seated us.) Not sure any of us...

Today was my husband’s birthday, and I decided to take him somewhere different from the usual places we normally go. We chose The Flying Biscuit, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions ever!
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly young gentleman named TJ and welcomed with a warm, energetic hug from the owner. The atmosphere was amazing—so inviting, cozy, and full of good energy.
Our waitress, Dasha, was wonderful—friendly, attentive, and made sure our first experience was perfect. I also loved that the menu included vegetarian and vegan options, which is a huge plus. The prices were reasonable, and the portions were generous—my husband and I shared a meal and still had leftovers to take home.
We ordered the High Flyer Breakfast with a waffle and added an extra pancake. My husband was thrilled that they offered turkey and chicken sausage options. The food was absolutely delicious—honestly, the best breakfast we’ve had in Knoxville so far!
What really made it special was the owner’s genuine interaction with customers. You can tell they truly care about creating a welcoming, family-style atmosphere.
If you haven’t tried The Flying Biscuit yet, I highly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed! We’re already planning our next visit.
