Went to Crave for the 1st and last time. Came across the establishment on line and we figured we would give it a shot. We were down for a hotdog and a beer for lunch.
The staff was pleasant and the food came out in a somewhat timely manner. The hot dog, braut, and sweet tot's were meh, at best. My hotdog was dry and the bun was burnt as were the tots. There was not much to the kitchen, so it really is just a process of heating the food or putting it under a heat lamp.
The concept for purchasing your choice of beer was a good idea in theory but execution was a failure. You pay $25.00 to put on one of their tap cards and pour your own beer from a variety of taps on the wall. It is connected to a company called Pour My Beer. There is a charge for the food and there is a charge separatley for the beer. The cashier did not fully explain the process so I asked for some clarification. The explaination cleared things up but the cashier handed my credit card to my wife folded up in a receipt and then she asked me how I wanted to pay for the beer card. I had to go get my wife to get the card back.
We finally get over to the beer wall with glass in hand. Either the temperature and or pressure was way off or it is the biggest scam ever. They give you a 16oz glass. There is no pricing on the wall as you are about to pour. I watch the card tab race up to $11 as foam and some beer pour into my glass and stopped when the glass was a little over half full. My wife did the same and the tap stopped pouring for some reason when hers was about a quarter full. $6. So we spent $17 for less then a 16 ounce glass of beer. Now my wife is annoyed. She goes back up to the counter to have the credit of $8 back to out credit card and we leave.
I understand that it is a new establishment and recently got their beverage license. I would expect them to have all of this figured out by now. All in all, not worth the time or effort and we will not...
Read moreI recently visited Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ that is still awaiting its alcohol license. Although the experience had its ups and downs, I wanted to share my thoughts to provide constructive feedback.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, I ordered two bratwurst dogs with jalapeños and onions, as well as a pulled pork plate. One thing worth mentioning is that the food took longer to arrive than I had anticipated. It's understandable for a new establishment to have some kinks to iron out, so I hope they can work on their efficiency in the future.
The bratwurst dogs were enjoyable, especially when paired with the sauce provided at the table. The flavors complemented each other well, and I found the combination of the bratwurst, jalapeños, and onions quite satisfying. However, when it came to the pulled pork, I was a bit disappointed. The meat lacked flavor, and I was hoping for a more robust and succulent taste. This could be an area the restaurant could focus on to enhance the overall experience.
Another aspect worth mentioning is the portion size in relation to the price paid. I felt that the portion of the pulled pork plate was on the smaller side, considering the price. It would be great if the restaurant could consider offering more generous servings to ensure better value for customers.
Despite these drawbacks, I would still recommend giving this place a try. It's a new restaurant, and with time, they have the potential to refine their flavors and improve the overall dining experience. The bratwurst dogs were enjoyable, and it's possible that other menu items may excel in terms of taste and presentation. Plus, once they obtain their alcohol license, it could enhance the overall...
Read moreI knew in advance this is a franchise, so nothing is cooked from scratch there, except the hot dogs (hopefully). First of all, this must be a place for young folks. People my age (not their target market, I am sure) want a paper menu. Instead, either you scan a QR code, or get neck cramps looking up at the only menu hanging from the ceiling. Atmosphere... what atmosphere. It's like ordering food at a gas station. I am sure it is fine with some folks, but, when I go out to eat, I want to be served, and I want to be able to understand the menu. Nobody there to explain a thing. The franchisee was doing paperwork at a table away from customers, while he should have been standing by the menu, welcoming folks and asking if anybody needed assistance. I watched one customer after another asking for assistance to the cashier to understand how the menu works. So, the poor cashier tried her best, but you can tell she wasn't well trained.
The food: have you ever had hot dogs at a gas station just because there was nowhere else to eat? How about those at a movie theater? Yes, those with the chili that comes out of a can. And the shredded cheddar that doesn't melt? Government cheese, anyone? So, for $5.95, no drink or side included, no service to speak of, no atmosphere, you get a gas station hot dog.
The franchisee has no control over the food quality because he is bound to use what he must. That is how franchises work. But, he can control the service, meaning he should be the service. Or, hire someone who can. Wait... nobody wants to work.
I honestly think he bought into the...
