We’ve never been to a Longhorn Steakhouse before, but we have been to a Texas Roadhouse. You’ll find that Longhorn is a less busy and less decor impacted than Texas Roadhouse. Where Texas Roadhouse makes accessibility difficult with their extremely cramped lines, narrow pathways, Longhorn squashes those problems. Wheelchairs, crutches, and other mobility aids can successfully navigate through Longhorn’s paths, and the tables are separated far enough from the booths to make sitting and walking comfortable.
We went at 11:14 am ( 14 minutes after opening ) on a Sunday and were obviously seated immediately before church crowds became an issue. The hostesses were absolutely adoring and attentive of our twin babies ( and us! ) and asked us personal ( but non-invasive ) questions and really drove that familiar touch home. We requested a table ( the booths are 🛑 NOT 🛑 plus sized babes approved ) and the table we sat at had extending leaves.
The high chairs we received had all the buckled and were very clean. However, they are on the shorter side compared to the table itself. There’s a Koala Care changing table in both the men’s and women’s bathroom and the bathrooms are spacious.
The food is what you’d expect from a chain steakhouse — but I gotta be honest? It tastes good enough, I’d almost mistake it for being a home grown steakhouse without the title of a chain attached to it. While it has similar menu items to Outback Steakhouse and Texas Roadhouse, I want to congratulate a few things in particular:
Items are $1 or $2 cheaper than the two aforementioned restaurants ( Outback and Texas ) without sacrificing size and portion. For example, the Texas Tonions are the Longhorn equivalent of the Bloomin Onion. It’s less greasier than a Bloomin Onion with a similar sauce, Vidalia with a hint of BBQ, and only costs $9. Usually I can kill a Bloomin Onion by myself, but the serving size for the Texas Tonions nearly filled me, my husband, and my twin infants.
The free bread is basic. It’s whole wheat and the butter is the only thing I have a qualm with. It’s refrigerated, which is great that it’s appropriately stored — but it makes it extremely difficult to spread, especially when the bread itself isn’t particularly hot. The butter does not taste salted, which isn’t a bad thing. Just something to mention. There’s also no special flavor to the butter.
Offering taste comparisons on entrees and appetizers in itself is difficult. Everyone has specific tastes. But if I had to compare the Parmesan crusted chicken, it’s a more garlicky, cheesier version of the double decker chicken from Ruby Tuesday’s, and it’s similar cousin dish at Texas Roadhouse. It came with fries ( which I wasn’t aware it would, ) and I chose rice pilaf as the intentional side. The rice was nice and flavorful with a nice seasoning. Not sticky or overly wet either.
Music is ambient volume. Not blasting like Texas Roadhouse. Not overly sensory overwhelming like Texas Roadhouse.
Beware how you order your kids meal — we were almost accidentally charged for a full adult entree when we ordered a kids meal. This was, however, an accident, and was fixed.
Our server was phenomenal, friendly, and attentive. I didn’t get his name, I’m sure he told us, but I didn’t sleep well last night, so my memory is shot.
They do accept military discounts. ( 10% )
Overall, for four drinks ( tea, soda, two juices ), an appetizer, chicken tenders for children, Parmesan crusted chicken, Renegade steak, plus our military discount came about to $58 after tax, not counting tip. This is a fair equivalent to what you’d be spending at Texas Roadhouse, Outback, and Olive Garden, for example.
We’ll be coming back! My husband’s birthday lunch went great and it was just a really relaxing atmosphere at this time of the day....
Read moreI originally started coming to the Fayetteville Longhorn when it first opened about 2-3 years ago. I was in love. I honestly couldn't go anywhere else for a steak. I definitely gave this location a 20 stars. I ordered alot of to go and did a few dine in. I have always ordered the Outlaw Ribeye medium well. It had to be 1 of the absolute best tasting and textured steak I'd ever had. I was going sometimes 2x a week. Ordering medium well allowed me the opportunity to still have a nice textured steak when warming it up later on.
By mid last year 2023 the food was sub par. I ordered 1 night and my medium well was done well. I let it slide thinking it may just be an off night. I went back the following week and it happened again, the steak was over cooked and tough. I laid off for about a month. I went back a month later and ordered medium well with some pink. It still came well. I figured by now it's gotta be the chef/cook. Then I started to go at different times thinking I'd be able to tell a difference that the chef/cook was different. That made NO difference. I dined in 1 time last year and sent my steak back 2x during my dine in. It never got right and I just ended up eating the 2nd steak that came because I was just down right hungry by that time.
December 2023 I go to Myrtle Beach and ate at Longhorn 3x in 1 week at different times and each time the steak was cook to perfection. It was like cutting into butter. It was so seasoned, medium well with some pink and absolutely delicious. It tasted how the Fayetteville location tasted when they 1st opened.
I went to the Garner, NC location in January 2024, ate there 2x in 1 week and had the same experience I had in Myrtle Beach.
I go to the Fayetteville location 1x in January, 1 x in February and now today 3/16/24 & I officially have decided I won't be back to this location.
Today i decided to order medium instead of my normal medium well and it still came out cooked well with spots of tough pink areas.
The steak is terrible and offensive to the quality of the reputation that Longhorn has for their steaks. I'm a steak eater and I can honestly say Longhorn is just as good and even better than some 5star restaurants that charge $80+ for a steak.
My steak today was tough and somewhat dry. It had some pink but was tough and not juicy. The seasoning was light and not seasoned well at all. Ever since mid last year ordering medium well and medium means well to the cook.
I'm so disappointed because now when I'm craving Longhorn I'm going to have to go to Garner or Myrtle Beach. I give up at this point.
The sides are ok. Nothing to scream about. Longhorn does have a good side salad but even that at the Fayetteville location has become sloppy and uninviting. I'm over the Fayetteville location.
Maybe I'll try back next year.
These pics are from today's order that was...
Read moreNew: Took my family here for dinner tonight and the service was great, food was prompt, but food was seriously subpar.
Appetizer was good, was basically Panda Express fried spicy orange chicken. Bad: I asked for my steak medium and it came out rare because for some reason steakhouses like cutting their steaks into these short THICK chunks of meat that don't cook evenly. It was extremely difficult to cut and chew, perhaps because it was an end piece of meat these used or it wasn't tenderized. I dunno, but I had to cut it into small pieces to be able to eat.
My son's burger and fries were too salty that he ended up not eating either items (he's 11). The other adult was really disappointed in their ribeye and said it wasn't really that great.
The bread keeps changing every time we come here as well. It wasn't the best, but it was ok.
The steaks were way too expensive for what we got. We really regretted coming here instead of waiting at Texas Roadhouse. We won't be coming back. We've been here many times and there's always a problem that makes us regret coming.
Old: I come here several times since it's opening and my experiences are never the same. The wait time is longer than stated most of the time, it's incredibly small compared to sister stores in other cities. Service is either great and you wait forever for food, or the food is great and the service takes forever. It is almost a certainty that you will have to ask for utensils lol.
Food rarely sucks, but if the portions are going to get smaller, then they might wanna get smaller plates because there is too much plate for how small the portions seem to be. Again, the food has ALWAYS been great. Steaks never come out cooked how you order, but it doesn't taste bad or poorly seasoned.
The appetizer shrimp we ordered recently was generously sized, which was a huge surprise.
This past time we went, the whole restaurant seemed to be having issues. This poor waitress at two neighboring tables was suffering from the kitchen's errors or something, and the guests were not nice. The hostess was having some kind of life issue and was clearly having a bad day and generally being unpleasant towards her coworkers and guests. The manger went to two tables to apologize for issues, and it just seemed like an overall bad day there.
Just hope to not be sat in the tables in the middle of the restaurant because you will have traffic all over you.
I dunno what it is with businesses coming into Fayetteville and building the smallest of their buildings but I wish they would stop and just build a normal sized building. Most restaurants seem to be too small to accommodate...
