Bottom line up front, management here should definitely be fired and replaced, as nothing here is being properly managed in the least. The owner should be concerned that current management is doing nothing whatsoever but degrading the image and perception of the restaurant, probably ultimately resulting in decreased sales from customers that won't return.
I was in the area, and decided to stop here for the Cajun flavored items that can't easily be found elsewhere. My intention was to get take-out. The drive-thru had cars looping around the entire restaurant, with approximately 8 - 10 cars, possibly indicating that the drive-thru was slow in filling orders. Because of that, I decided to park, and go inside and order rather than wait in the drive-thru for an inordinate amount of time.
I ordered a variety of chicken meals as well as side dishes, and was informed that there would be a wait of 10 - 15 minutes because some of the items were not prepared. I was willing to wait 10 - 15 minutes, especially if that meant that the food was being prepared fresh. After about 15 minutes, I inquired what the status of the order was, and was told it would be another few minutes. This turned into another 15 minutes, for a total wait of 30 minutes for items that in no way take 30 minutes to prepare. It took another 5 minutes to package everything, so 35 minutes total from order to exit.
During my entire 35 minute wait, the manager, a very obese black female, was sitting in the seating area of the restaurant (and appeared to have been for some time when I first arrived), leisurely conversing with either customers she knew, or acquaintances, with other employees having to come out of the kitchen area into the seating area to ask her questions and get instructions about various things. When the employees did this, the manager would answer them in a very annoyed and condescending tone, as if the employees were interrupting her conversation, and actually performing a managerial function was not worth her time.
When other customers would ask what the delay was in their food preparation, this manager would blurt out rather ridiculous excuses, all the while making no effort whatsoever to actually take part in any aspect of managing or contributing to the actual operation of the restaurant that she was supposed to be managing. I was somewhat boggled at this point as to what her actual function was, since she quite obviously wasn't performing a management function, or in any way contributing to decreasing the ever-growing backlog of customers both inside and outside in the drive-thru.
Perhaps her goal was to get fired due to lack of performance, so she could go collect unemployment and have more time to chat with her friends while still getting paid...which is basically what she was doing in the restaurant anyway. At least at home on unemployment, the quality of the restaurant service might actually improve.
My perception is that this restaurant needs an intervention by the owner, and a near-complete personnel overhaul is in order.
I do understand that fast food positions tend to attract certain types of people with sub-par work ethics, but this place stands out for exceptionally poor service and poor attitudes from management.
I will drive out of my way to go to the other Popeye's in Fayetteville, rather than go back to this place. The food, although I like it, is simply not worth the negative experience and having to endure the unproductive and hostile environment that this...
Read moreI ordered an eight-piece dinner that was supposed to come with one side in which i ordered cajun fries, two extra biscuits and two apple pies. I had just come from work and was hungry and was getting food for me and my child. I was told that there was a 13 minute wait on my chicken and I was very patient with this because I haven't had Popeye's Chicken in over 9 months. So I patiently waited in the parking lot, 20 minutes later I received what I thought was my food. When I got home my side was not what I ordered. It was red beans and rice not the cajun fries. I also did not have my two extra biscuit and my two apple pies. I live about 15 minutes away from this Popeye's location. So for me to wait that long to get home and not have what I ordered was very frustrating. I called the store over 20 times to try to see if I could speak with a manager and try to resolve the issue by coming another day to pick up the items I paid for, however no one ever answered the phone. As a matter of fact someone took the phone off the hook so that it rang busy as I was calling. I decided to travel back to the store they either get my money back or get what I paid for. The young lady with the color contacts and the dusty red tracks in her hair decided to roll her eyes when I was explaining their mistake.The young lady manager with the colorful braids was nice enough to hear me out and apologize and I do appreciate that. I decided to look up the reviews for this particular location and I received exactly the service that was described by all of the bad reviews. I will not be returning to this location. I got halfway down the and my wings were cold, I called and spoke with the manager Garland , I explained to him what I received, He told me to come back later and he would remake more. I told him I wouldn’t be able to come back today, He said I could come back whenever I have a chance and let someone know that I need a remake of my order. He was very nice and I appreciate him being kind and understanding. I went back today June 18, 2023 around 1:45 . Told the cashier about yesterday she said she would do a remake. I waited about 25 to 30 minutes never saw them put any fresh chicken out. A young lady called out a number which they never gave me a number, One of the other employees was that my order I said know I had two orders of chicken, Both of them basically tried to tell me I had one order of chicken, anyway I got my order and got in the car and the wings were wasn’t any better than the day before. I’m very disappointed I spend my money on food that should be hot not cold. Not to mention the female employees need some customer service training, they don’t speak and they give you a deep stare and seems like they don’t wanna be at work . Now the male employees are very friendly and always speak , but those females need to get it together.
