My husband and I have had a love and hate relationship with this place. We used to love eating here until things slowly started going downhill. We took a long break before giving it another try, to which changed our mind for the better. Again, we started going to Sushi Court several times afterwards, only to stop going after terrible service and an attitude from our waitress.
We haven’t come back, but we decided to give the place another chance once again. What a mistake.
The first thing we noticed were the changes in the menu. On first glance, it looked rather nice, until opening the menu and being unable to read ANYTHING as all the words in the center menu look as though they have been printed with low resolution. Everything looked so pixelated!
My husband and I both ordered a chicken bento box, to which we knew came with a choice of soup and salad dressing. Our waitress said nothing about our options, but stared and waited. I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, so I merely confirmed it with her on whether or not the bento box did come with soup and salad. She said yes, but said nothing else afterwards.
As we were waiting for our meal after ordering, my husband and I could barely hold a conversation with each other due to the loud music playing and the tv, which was playing an episode of Rick and Morty and something with sperm.
Soon our orders slowly came. We did order two sushi rolls. Mine was some kind of eel roll, which I thought tasted quite good. My husband ordered the yum yum roll, which was very underwhelming and tasted like nothing but cucumbers. Quite a disappointment.
Our miso soup was ok, we finished that. We barely ate anything from the bento boxes however since everything tasted like “hot towels” (as my husband said). There was no flavor and all the sauces looked very watered down, especially the ginger dressing.
We asked for our check, but our waitress didn’t ask if we wanted a to go box even after we paid. We wouldn’t have wanted one anyways, but still, it was more of the idea that asking a customer if they wanted a box or not seemed pretty important especially if a customer had leftovers of any amount left.
Overall, a very disappointing experience and definitely will be our last here. No more chances as we deeply regretted giving Sushi Court yet another...
Read moreUpdate your online menu, this is completely irresponsible. I have a severe shellfish allergy, having gone into anaphylaxis once before in my life.
Placed an order over the phone via this online menu. I ordered the crunchy salmon roll. I took a bite in the car. Mouth started tingling. Finished my errands, got home, went to take a second bite and immediately spit out what was IMITATION CRAB. Nowhere is this listed. Not all imitation crab is shellfish free and clearly this isn’t.
When I called, the lady who answered said “yeah, so our menu shows that there’s crab stick in it. Oh, anyways yeah you can have my manager.”
The manager was just as helpful as she was. Forget the wasted money this place is refusing to return, UPDATE YOUR MENU FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS. Completely irresponsible.
Edit; So it took the manager talking to the owner to exercise any sort of wherewithal in how to handle a situation such as this. Received a call back after writing this review where refund or store credit was offered after I was made sure the entire staff is just so sorry about this (yeah I’m sure the one who answered the phone and told me I was lying was real apologetic, lol!) Then I was told I need to inform staff of my allergies. Absolutely. Totally fair. Normally I do. Especially when ordering something stating there is imitation crab. Call me uncultured but I’ve lived with this allergy for 34 years and in the history of a tuna roll or salmon roll explicitly called that, there is never crab anything. Sure, rolls with tuna and crab plus other things exist. But they aren’t called a tuna roll. Or a salmon roll.
Anyways, an extra star for trying but still...
Read moreEnviroment: Friday date night around 6 p.m. Enjoyed the fact that we didn't have to wait an hour to be seated. The environment was quiet and intimate. We were seated immediately.
Food: I had the chicken yakisoba and my date had the chicken Hibachi and we both had the sushi combination appetizer. The chicken Hibachi was great seasoned well and had the yum yum sauce on the side. I had the chicken yakisoba which was good, loads of food, however, it was a bit on the salty side, which I think was due from the noodles and whatever broth they may have been cooked in.Our waitress was attentive and even took time to show us how to use chopsticks.
Cleanliness: Like most restaurantsI frequent that have carpet, there was an odor however I think it was due to spilled drinks and food over time. I'm sure something a good carpet cleaning could resolve. Everything looked clean, yet somwhow I missed the sanitation score.I always check the restroom whenever I go out to a restaurant just to give me an idea of what happens behind the scenes. The restroom floor sticky and tacky.... didn't hold that against them however it does leave a little bit of.. when wad the last time the floors had been mopped, but in this case I looked beyond it because everything else was clean.
Overall, my scores is 4.0 for great date night environment the food was good with the exception of the salty yakisoba..I'm sure isolated event... restaurant was clean overall with the exception of the tackiness on bathroom floor and that could definitely be an isolated situation as well. . At the end of the day I will go back again even on a...
