Let me preface this by saying that I am never the kind to complain about a restaurant or leave nasty reviews. However, this experience had both me and my friend feeling equally dumbfounded and quite offended.
I always, exclusively order the paneer tikka masala. Matter of fact, I sat down at this restaurant about 2 weeks ago and ordered the same thing as usual. It has NEVER not come with green bell peppers and onions, as the menu also states that it comes with “fresh vegetables”.
Today, I noticed there were none. No big deal, wasn't gonna try to hustle free food or a discount, nor was I going to send it back. But, I was curious about why it was different. I asked my server, to which she told me that it doesn’t come with onion/pepper, and supposedly “never has”. When I protested, she picked up a nearby menu, opened it in front of me and proceeded to point and read aloud the description of my order. Not sure what point she was trying to make, as the menu is in my favor, because it states “fresh vegetables”. I dismiss the issue and she walks away.
Disgruntled and dissatisfied with that answer, I ask the young man who was routinely refilling our waters. He seemed to not be entirely sure, so he offered to ask the chef, to which I agreed. He stepped away for a moment and came back with the same response I got the first time. “It doesn’t come with peppers and onions” to which I asked “Is that a new thing?” and he told me that it wasn’t new, and has never been done differently. Note, both him and the server from before told me that the absent vegetables were instead “blended in the sauce”.
I want to conclude this while emphasizing that I am not upset over the lack of onions and peppers. It was still tasty, and I still ate til I was full and felt good about paying for my meal. I’m upset because I do not understand what feels to me like complete dishonestly, and like I’m being GASLIT about what comes in the food. Image searching “tandoori bites paneer tikka masala” pulls up images clearly showing the vegetables that weren't present, and I am baffled as to why I was being consistently assured that I am wrong about whats supposed to be in it. I left feeling quite disrespected, but mostly confused. If they had told me they simply ran out, or even that they forgot to include them, I would’ve thought “oh, thats fine”, and moved on. I’m not sure how this issue ought to be revised, but I wanted to bring it to...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate experience of ordering Butter Chicken with medium spice from this place, and I have to say, it was a total letdown. The spice level on the dish was unbearable—it wasn’t just mildly spicy, it was so so spicy , I understand that spice preferences vary, but the "medium" level was way off the charts compared to what you’d expect. The customer service made the situation worse. The woman who I spoke about my order was indifferent and cold when I explained that we had traveled 10 hours ,we have kids to feed , she just said come and collect a new order at 9:45 pm . I mentioned that it would takes us 22 minutes to reach the restaurant for a change of curry but she simply shrugged and said nothing could be done as the restaurant will be closed. The other man I spoke to said that I should have mentioned it was for kids so they would have suggested not to order (but even for me and my husband we still have our lips burning , felt like spicy chilli powder was just mixed in it )but he didn’t offer any help or solutions, only mentioning that they would have made it differently if they’d known. At no point did they offer any kind of refund or compensation. Instead, they suggested I come back tomorrow, despite making it clear that I wasn’t a local and had just driven hours to get there. To make matters worse, their website clearly lists spice levels ranging from mild to very spicy, but there was no mention of the extreme variance in spice levels within the "medium" category. This kind of miscommunication is disappointing and frustrating, especially when you’ve already spent so much time and energy on the order. In the end, we felt completely disregarded, and the whole experience left a sour taste in our mouths—literally and figuratively. Unless they fix their spice level descriptions and take customer concerns seriously, I wouldn’t recommend this...
Read moreI don’t have pictures because we dove right into the food as soon as we got it and before we knew it we had finished it all. That’s how good it was. My partner and I wanted to go eat somewhere with a low atmosphere. Somewhere relaxed but quiet where the music isn’t pumping and there’s not 100 TVs around you. And since this was one of the places we had never been to together we ventured over. And it was the perfect choice.
We were promptly sat. Our waters filled. Given time to look at the menu. And our orders quickly taken. We did Shrimp Tikka Masala and Coconut Chicken with Garlic Naan and Rosemary Naan. And we shared both entrees.
We did both dishes with a medium spice level. He found the Tikka Masala spicier than the Coconut Chicken. And I found the coconut chicken spicier! Just to show how tastes different.
We had never had coconut chicken. And we are glad that was our new dish. It was delicious and fantastic. But I did miss having butter chicken. My second favorite dish from Tandoori Bites.
I do wish we had had a bit more rice to share.
My only ugh ok part of the meal was that there was not much of a flavor difference between the garlic Naan and the Rosemary Naan. I love Garlic so I was expecting a heavy garlic flavor but it was of a small hint of garlic.
Reena was our server and she was fantastic. There was always water in our cup. Between the two servers on the floor, they kept the cups full and checked on us. She even stopped to help us understand their spice levels accordingly and how we can order next time to add more spice to it without completely going up a spice level.
Definitely...
