Authentic Experience with Great Service, But One Drawback I recently visited El Cazador Mexican Restaurant and was impressed by the overall experience. The decor is 100% Mexican, with authentic music that adds to the ambiance. The restaurant was spotless, and the staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive. My server went above and beyond to accommodate my dietary preference—I originally wanted a dish that was made with beef but since I don’t eat lamb, she made sure it was prepared without it. She even brought extra condiments to enhance the dish, which was a thoughtful touch. The food itself was flavorful and well-prepared, making for a satisfying meal. The only downside to my visit was the seating arrangement. Despite the restaurant not being too busy, I was placed at a table very close to the restrooms. Normally, this wouldn’t be a big issue, but in this case, I could hear everything from inside, which took away from the dining experience. Overall, I’d still recommend this place for its authenticity, cleanliness, and excellent service. I’d just suggest requesting a table away from the restrooms if possible.

The food is okay for Mexican food. We’ve had better but they’re the only ones who serve Menudo. Alex, one of the managers should be fired. She’s rude as hell. I called to place a to go order since we know it takes a while since we were ordering Menudo. I had asked a few questions about ordering and then was placed on hold for 10 minutes. In that time, I had already arrived to the restaurant. As I was walking in to tell themI was on the phone, the line hung up. Alex played dumb and acted like she didn’t hang up the phone and said “well we have 2 lines”. She had BOTH phones. Who else would it have been? I also heard her in the background while on hold adding people to the waitlist. Again, she is the only one there. I’ve also had a Chile Relleno before and they should really laugh at themselves for whatever they thought they made and called it a Chile Relleno. It was a jalepeno cut open with ground beef inside and cheese on top! That’s it. They’re extremely overpriced for only ok food.

We went 1/13/24 and I got their Chori Pollo + extra limes. Along with my food, I got a tequila sunrise. I don't understand why some people are so confused about the alcohol in the drinks(?), they have an alcohol menu, separate from the original menu. After I had finished my sunrise I asked for a tequila sunset and I was actually quite surprised at the quality of both drinks. My husband got a chimichanga and gave me the salad & Pico de Gallo that went with it. Their house fried tortilla chips are great to dip all of their food with, especially the salsa that comes with it & that pairs with everything else as well! I also got the Agua de Pina (Pineapple water) and that was very nice as well! I'd compare it to a high quality lemonade, but made with pineapples rather than lemons. Delicious all ways around and as another reviewer stated, "A Fayetteville Classic!"

Love the food, I always ask if we can go to el caz on the weekends, but honestly I don’t know why at this point. I don’t think I’ve ever had good service there, decent at best but, it’s usually absolutely terrible. Last night though was the worst for sure. Invited a friend to come with my boyfriend and myself for dinner, got there, were seated pretty quick, took the usual long amount of time for the server to come over and to get our waters and then finally the margaritas came. We ordered our food and had finished the chips and salsa so I asked for more of both because both were empty. She brought more chips but no salsa. The kicker though was when my friend ordered her meal “I just want steak, shrimp, rice and queso” “the shrimp will be an extra $5” “ok that’s fine.” The food comes really fast which was cool but of course it wasn’t our server who dropped it off so by the time we noticed that my friend had been served not steak and shrimp, but chicken we had to of course wait forever for the server to come over. Once she finally came over and was alerted to the issue her response was “I don’t know where my heads at today” brought a plate of shrimp to the table and told her the shrimp would be free... ok whatever. But what is really making me write this review is because after checking my bank account today, I noticed el caz charged me twice. And this is the second time. And this is the second time that I have paid for my meal there. So honestly if I ever go back I will be paying in cash and I advise anyone else to check their bank account after eating there. So...

Honestly, I dislike that I feel this needs to be written because we have, in the past, had good experiences. Today, however, was not a good one. Ali G (that's what the receipt said) was our waitress and at first it seemed that we were going to get great service, but that quickly changed. My husband and I are visiting from out of town and met with a few friends that we haven't seen in over a year, El Cazador was where we wanted to enjoy our visit with them. My husband and I wanted to split steak fajitas for one, she asks if it was for 2 and we said for one, but to bring us an extra plate. We wanted fajitas for one because we also had dinner plans and didn't want to be too stuffed. Ali brought steak quesadillas and I mentioned that we ordered steak fajitas, she asked if it was for 2 and we said no for one, but to bring us an extra plate. When she came out again she brings us a steak fajita quesadilla. At that point we were ready to eat, not to mention everyone else at the table was already pretty much through eating. I told her again that we ordered steak fajitas and we would just eat what she brought. She walked away in what seemed a pretty bad mood and didn't come back to check on us at all for the rest of our time there. One of our guests had to ask another waitress to refill our drinks. If steak fajitas for 1 are not to be shared she should have said so and we would have ordered something else, also I feel that after bringing out the wrong order twice she should have offered an apology.

I wish this was a positive review, but...

We ate here the other evening, our service was terrible. The waitress asked me twice whay drinks we wanted. The one with the issue was I specifically asked for a Corona in a cold mug. Sbe asked me 3 times what I wanted, and she still didn't get it right. A corona in a bottle game out with a lime in it. Not a mug in sight even after she confirmed 3 times. My husband ordered the carne asada meal and asked for shrimp on the side. After he got his meal, he waited 30 minutes for his shrimp, then he had to go to the counter to ask for it. The taco salad has considerably shrunk in size compared to what it used to be. I never received a tea refill. It seems like the restaurant has become chintzy in portion size and refills. This was once our favorite Mexican restaurant in town, but El Burrito on Andrews Rd. has taken the place for us. El Cazador's salsa is terrible. It's watery and nothing more than unflavored canned tomato sauce with a few spices added. There's no texture or flavor. We spent over $100 for 3 people, and the best part was the fried ice cream. The waitress didn't even deserve the tip that we left, but she is working for her money, so she was given $15. That was too generous considering her...
