Starting with the Superlatives ; our server Stina is a đ Gem. Passionate, knowlegable, and a dynamic presenter of specials, and the experience to come. Super applause đ, she delivers !!! Atmosphere is wonderful as we chose outdoor seating on their " Superdeck " overlooking Commencement Bay. We picked a clear day , cooler end of September temps and a dinner start at shy of 4pm. Yes , as others have occasionally mentioned we are under Sea-Tac's flight path , no issue for us as we are aviators or have been in the Aviation industry, and have flown extensively. The only negative was one pesky đ whom wouldn't leave me alone between bites. We were close to shifting inside yet mid meal is not fair for the staff to reassign as they were full w/ reservations inside. All was well. The garlic/parmesan toasty cheezy bread was comp and a great starter w/ a reddish lobster cream along with a soup cup filled w/ marinara sauce also for dipping. Like magic those four slices vanished amidst the four of us before even making it to the sauces. My caesar was good and when I asked for extra caesar dressing it became great , thx Stina for caring to ask. My Best friend had the iceberg wedges ( full size // twin wedges ) and was loaded with either candied pecans or walnuts, goat cheese crumbles , dressing and more. Humungous portions and difficult for the two of them to finish. I was secretly hoping for a bite , never offered, never happened đą.Our friends did the Deep sea scallops with a veggie green base of some kind , they enjoyed them. My brides Lasagna Classico albeit modest in proportion was meaty rich, cheesy rich- delicious. Enough for her w/ a takeaway box as did all of us ! Three of us hit the dry aged Ribeyes cooked medium rare and medium ala excellente. Great taste w/ a gorgonzola cream sauce as an added side. This Federal Way Icon of thirty years is here to stay , thanking Chef Christopher " Chris " , our delightful host and of course everything we were presented with by Superserver " Stina. A final surprise was the moist delish slice of lemon cake w/ the perfect amount of sweetness for all ! This wetted our appetite for another dessert đ€, ok we will fiur way their " Signature & Best of the West Tiramisu " đł, Winner alert đ, unanimously voted by all of us as the Lifetime Best. P.S. our vote counts as we have over 311 years collective Life on Earth and never, ever had a better Tiramisu anywhere on thi planet đ đ ( đ đ€Ł). Happy hour discount on the scallops, a comp lemon cake slice , a charming tableside server all made this a great visit !!! So easy to return here , hop on the Pacific Hwy and cruise control your way here...
Read moreTerrible! Friend from out of town wanted to go to an Italian restaurant on Valentine's Day. I made reservations at Verrazano's for 7:15pm as I had eaten there many times before. I was warned on the phone when I made reservations that they were serving a limited menu and that there was a 20% automatic service gratuity on all meals. We showed up for dinner right before 7:15 and were promptly seated which was great but everything went downhill from there. The menu was ala cart with 7 different entrees. The least expensive entrée was a chicken/pasta dish for $26. Other entrees averaged about $50-$60 in price which my friend and I felt was really high. We decided to order one bottle of wine ($44) and one appetizer (shrimp cocktail $18), one ceasar salad ($7) and a steak Oscar w/asparagus ($59) and share the meal. The food and wine were good and cooked to our satisfaction. However, when the bread was served it was not warmed and we asked our waiter (Justin) to warm it. He seemed put out by this request. He returned a few minutes later with slightly warmed bread and we asked again to have it warmed. He did so. He served our dinner and only checked with us on our dinner once after passing by quickly. Granted it was a busy night and the restaurant was packed but Justin seemed to be more concerned about getting customers through quickly rather than ensuring a good dining experience. My friend found a piece of hair in her dinner and when Justin brought the bill she mentioned it to him. He said he was sorry about that but he was doing the best he could. We asked to speak to a manager and Justin came up to us and said "I understand you want to speak to a manager. I'm a manager. What is your concern?" We asked to speak to a different manager and a woman came to our table. We expressed concern about the service and she said that she would call us the next day or early the next week. She never called. We felt that to pay exorbitant prices for dinner ($128 for one entrée and bottle of wine) plus a gratuity of $25 for terrible service was outrageous!. I will never return to Verrazano's again. If you want a better value for your money go to Mama Stortini's in Federal Way. I have eaten at their location in Kent and their food is reasonably priced and they have excellent service. Much better value...
Read moreAbsolutely awful. I will never return and won't ever suggest this place to anyone. I'll explain why.
Don't get me wrong, the establishment wasn't shanty, the service wasn't negative and everyone I experienced was pleasant, but I go to a restaurant in order to have food made for me at LEAST as good as I could make myself. If I'm spending $40 a plate on food I have an expectation for it to not taste like food I would expect from The Sizzler.
We received free bread after ordering our dishes, first being informed that my dish was $33 for a 12oz new York strip with a demi-Glace sauce, so I decided to try it out. (dish was $40 on my bill so that was a thrilling cherry on the top.)
We ordered an appetizer of mushroom crostini, followed by entrees for the New York Strip for myself, the veal marsala, fettuccine Alfredo for the kid, and a glass of wine to come with my entree.
The mushrooms with the crostini were chewy and rubbery, not wilted but crisp as you would expect. Bread and sun dried tomatoes were fine. Possibly jarred.
I ordered my steak medium, and received it medium well as it arrived, which only became well done as the meal progressed. The steak was tough, bland, and the demi-Glace was overpowering and abundant, as if it was catchup covering up a hot dog. Asparagus were cooked rather well, and the potato puree was thin and abundant with salted butter.
The girlfriend's veal was coarse, stringy, and crunched under each bite. The breading was flavorless and caused the veal to be very cardboard-esque in flavor, with her plate also being abundant in sauce. Pasta was cooked Al dente which I do prefer, but was obviously boxed pasta, and seemed unrinsed, starchy, and sticky. Evenly cooked though.
The kid's pasta just tasted like milk lol
I'm sorry but I've had plenty of $40 plates of steak, ordered medium, and have been pleasantly satisfied, even dare I say thrilled. I was thoroughly let down in each dish I was served, quoted a price for my dish and was not informed of the difference before receiving it, and ended up buying a 10 dollar steak and being overcharged for ambient lighting, fancy collared shirts and ties, and a candle on my table.
DO NOT EAT HERE. It's establishments like these that prey on the ignorant with their cheap tricks of smothering awful food in sauce to cover up their...
