I’m writing to share how deeply disappointed I am with my recent experience. I’ve always enjoyed your baked goods and have had great experiences in the past, which is why I chose your bakery for a very special occasion. Unfortunately, this time around, things fell far short of expectations.
I called last Friday (May 9th)to place an order for a cake I needed today, May 16th. The woman I spoke with took my order over the phone, confirmed it would be ready, and even asked if I wanted anything written on the cake. I said I didn’t think so at the time, and she told me to just call back if I changed my mind—giving me every indication that my order was all set.
Today, when I came in to pick it up, I was told there was no order under my name. I was then asked if I had prepaid, which I hadn’t been told was required. That was never communicated to me when I placed the order, and had I known it was necessary to finalize the order, I absolutely would have done so. Instead, I was left with no cake, no warning, and no real apology or offer to help fix the situation.
This cake was for a joint birthday celebration for my husband and me this Saturday—a specific cake that we can’t just find last-minute elsewhere. We’re now left scrambling for a solution, which is incredibly frustrating and disappointing.
I understand mistakes happen, but what made this worse was how poorly it was handled when I came in. The lack of accountability or sincere effort to make things right was really disheartening.
I’ve always supported your bakery and recommended it to others, and I hope this message encourages you to revisit how orders are handled and how customers are treated when things go wrong. I would truly appreciate it if someone from your team could reach out—not just to offer an explanation, but to show that you value your customers and are willing to make things right when...
Read moreI really love Crust and go all the time to their location in the Flint Farmers Market. I was in Fenton today and decided to stop into their main location. It really pains me to say that I was disappointed because that's not what I wanted to write about this place. I am sure it was great.
I was going to grab a crusty loaf of bread and some salted butter to make grilled cheese at home....only to find out no real loaves to speak of but two plain loaves presliced that were hidden away behind glass and other goodies I barely noticed them.
Decided to just grab a sandwich out of the deli case and a specialty cold brew coffee from their barista recommendation board. To my surprise when I was rung up and it cost just over $19!!!! There was no price displayed on the sandwich and I noticed that the other drinks had a $6-8 price range. So my sandwich cost potentially anywhere from $11-$13 and it was dry...there was one mayo packet and one Dijon and I had to take a sip after every bite to get it down. So much so that the other half I just opened up and ate the components separate from one another.
I could see the cost of this included some sort of side like a bag of chips or a pickle so it was more of a "meal". Will say the atmosphere is great and the staff very nice, friendly, and helpful.
Will definitely go back as I really do enjoy them. Would love to check out the restaurant itself.l for sure...
Read moreTraveled an hour to get to Crust. Saw on UTR (PBS) and wanted to try. When I arrived and found the door to enter, it was utter chaos. This is a commercial bakery with lots of exterior windows for viewing. There was a line just inside the entrance so I stood in line. It was very congested at this entrance area. A lot of great looking bread for sale. I was there to sit down and eat and only after 20 minutes (the line never moved) found out there was a different area to walk up and be seated. By that time it was a 45 minute wait. Had to settle for premade sandwiches and went back in line to purchase bread. This is where it gets interesting. There is a very nice bakery selection and it is order and serve only in this section. There is a separate area to ring up the order. There are full blown conversations going on at the counter with customers and a big line of people waiting to order, very little getting handed over the counter to purchase. After waiting another 20 minutes, it was my turn, I ordered my bread, they handed it over and I am on my way to pay for it. What was everyone else talking about and clogging the Que? I will give this place another shot and will plan to spend "hours" at this bakery in the future. Just seems customers could get moved and handled without so much chaos and SELL a lot more product! BTW, the bread is 5 stars but the experience...
