On Aug. 2nd 2023 I visited Elicious for the 1st time. I had heard alotttt of talk about the establishment & how good the food & service were. I arrived just before 1pm in the afternoon( Their hours are 7am till 2pm). When I pulled into the parking lot which is kind of tight for the amount of business that they do, it was about 3/4 full. I was eager to step inside & check the place out. We were greeted & welcomed by a pleasant older lady who sat our party of 3 at a table. I viewed the interior & noticed all of the classic decor. U almost felt like U were in a old Motown restaurant as the establishment played a verygood selection of oldies but goodies, that took U back. I viewed the menu & waited for our Waitress to come to our table to take our order. After about 3 to 5 mins of waiting our Waitress arrived & took our orders. I decided to have the "Traditional Breakfast" which consisted of Bacon, Sausage Links, choice of Potatoes or Grits, 2 Eggs prepared how U like, & 2 Pancakes. I decided to have Scrambled Eggs w/ Cheddar Cheese & Grits instead of the Potatoes. I decided to have Strawberry Lemonade to drink. We waited maybe 5 mins for our food. My Bacon was way overcooked, the Grits had a few lumps in them, but they were tolerable. My Scrambled Eggs were a lil' undercooked. The best part of the meal were the Pancakes which were absolutely delicious!!! They had a really good buttery flavor & the syrup complimented them perfectly. The Strawberry Lemonade was very, very weak, it taste more like colored water. Our Waitress came to our table maybe twice the whole time we were there to check on us. I decided to place an order of Fried Pork Chops To-Go. The Pork Chops were a lil' tough & someone in the Kitchen is kind of heavy handed with the White or Black Pepper in the breading of the Pork Chops. Overall I guess I was a lil' let down after hearing people rant & rave about how delicious Elicious was & how excellent the Customer Service was. Would I try Elicious again? probably, if for nothing else but the delicious Pancakes. Once an establishment gets a favorable reputation it is extremely hard to uphold & keep unless their is a total commitment to quality & service. I think if Elicious tweaks a few areas, they could become a force & true landmark in the restaurant community not just in the Ferguson or Missouri area, but Nationwide!!! Elicious is worth trying if ur looking for & desiring a place that has a welcoming, lively atmosphere, that takes U back in the day & has a decent Southern Comfort menu then Elicious is a place to checkout, but get there very early, because the parking lot fills up fast!! Prices are a lil' high, but...

Where do I start...
I am from the south, and this is not a southern style menu.
We were traveling through Ferguson, and our original plan was to dine at the King of Soul restaurant across the street. Elicious wasn't even on our list. But after reading some glowing online reviews, we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, we should’ve stuck with the original plan. Upon entering, we were met with a 20-minute wait... understandable for a busy brunch spot. But when we were finally seated, we were ushered into a space filled with loud, blaring music. It was so loud that we had to raise our voices just to talk to one another. Not exactly the relaxed brunch vibe we were hoping for. There were 12 of us in our party. We placed our orders and then waited 30 minutes for basic breakfast and brunch items — some of the quickest meals to prepare. When the food arrived, everything was either mixed up or missing. Guests who ordered pancakes received waffles… or nothing at all. After a good deal of back and forth, the orders were finally sorted out. As a chef and food consultant, I don’t throw around criticism lightly. But I have to say: the food was bad. Most of our group was disappointed — not just with the food, but also with the slow service and the confusion around the orders.
I personally ordered two of my favorites: the salmon croquettes and the vegan omelette, which came with a side of pancakes. Here’s the breakdown:
-Pancakes: Rubbery and barely edible. -Vegan Omelette: Overcooked and dry. -Salmon Croquettes: Deep fried in old, overused oil. They were so greasy it took nine napkins to blot the oil just to make them barely edible. Even then, they tasted like burnt, stale oil. *As a rule of thumb: any restaurant that deep fries something as delicate as salmon patties clearly doesn’t understand how to handle the ingredient properly.
*In short, this was not a pleasant dining experience. I’m sharing photos to back up my words and help others make an informed decision.
This is not a place if you are health conscious or are a clean eater.
*Final verdict: You've been warned. Eat at your own risk.
I had to make restitution and apologize to my group since it was my idea to venture this place. Looking at the other reviews, It appear that the owner block people that provide negative social media post. Wished I'd read these instead of the Facebook...
Read moreSo, I ordered an omelet with toast instead of pancakes. Toast is cheaper anyhow. Not sure why it took almost 30 mins to make an omelet??? My gosh was the kitchen slow. There may have been a lot of people, but unless everyone cam in 10-15 mins before my arrival, there isn't a reson it takes that long. Especially when it's undercooked!!!
So my meal came out and when I started cutting into it I saw some runniness. Well I thought it was cheese. Well as I got almost half way in and it was more runny. As the server comes to refill my water as I'm scrapping runny white egg. I asked if it was supposed to be like this. She said uhh no, it's supposed to be cooked. She asked it's wet? I said yes and poked at the runniness. She asked if I wanted a new one and I said I couldn't eat it now. Now I tried to cut off the other corner, and that was runny egg as well. You can see a little in the picture with the corner peice with that white stuff on the plate. So I saw the manager come out and talk to a couple tables. NOT mine! Oh okay.. so I'm guessing because I'm white, he thought I was being a "Karen?" He couldn't have the decency to apologize?! Oh and he only took 30% off. I should have thrown a fit and said no that's not good enough for partly cooked eggs. I walked out pissed and didn't tip the server 25% because she should have done her part. Which this isn't a fancy restaurant to have 25% on the bill. But whatever. The fact he thought 30% on undercooked food is okay, well you are wrong. And I know that Google reviews are powerful! I took pics of my runny egg that was an omelet. So go elsewhere and do NOT give them your business!!! I won't be back and I'll make sure to leave a review on yelp, trip advisor, and everywhere else I can. There's your Karen for you. Had you actually cared about me as a customer who got wronged, you wouldn't have received a crappy review. I always post good and bad and that isn't just stars. I give lots of detail as to why I left that many stars or 1 star and always give a positive. My positive is the server was nice...
