Mr Rivera’s Taqueria — Restaurant in Ferguson

For a while now, I've been looking for a place near Ferguson where I can get a decent torta. I just had an al pastor from Mr. Rivera's and it's competing in my head for the best I've ever eaten. The rest of the menu is solid also--nothing too fancy, nothing too pricy, just fresh ingredients and rich flavors.

The setup is intriguing, like maybe they did one too many food truck farmer's market pop ups and got tired of customers sitting on the ground and getting rained on. So they seem to have semi permanently parked the truck at this tiny building, spruced up the interior in case you want a climate-controlled eat-in, laid out some tables in the long long covered portico in case you're just staying out of the rain, added some servers to make ordering easier, and then...continued running the food truck. Mr. Rivera's Taqueria is FANTASTIC, DELICIOUS and AUTHENTIC! This is the second time I went in 2 weeks just to make sure it was as delicious as the first time and it WAS! So far I have tried a variety of tacos (chicken, shrimp, steak), queso, a chicken torta, agua frescas and the BEST rice I have had at a taqueria/restaurant in St. Louis! We saw this place pop up about a month ago and decided to give it a go. Its a very basic atmosphere and oddly, all the cooking takes place in the food truck parked in the front. That said, our server was fantastically friendly and helpful. The chips and salsa were tasty. The main courses were also good. Oddly, there were no forks or knives which for some of the dishes would have been mighty handy. They don't have fountain drinks or any diet soda. But you can choose from a variety of bottled sodas.
