As has been the case for the past year and a half and on a monthly basis, we have dinner there prior to boarding our flight home. Our flights lately have placed us on another gate so we run to Gate A to have time to eat there since we used to love this place. Having said all of the above, we were extremely unhappy on this last trip, Sept 20th, 2021, between the hours of 6pm and 6:30pm, to be exact. Not the food but with an extreme rude hostess. We asked to sit at a table and she emphatically stated that there were no tables at all and she would sit us two at a long high top table so we said ok as long as there were not any other tables available. I kindly asked if she could please clear the rest of the table since it was all dirty with dishes, etc. Needless to say, she did not like that. As soon as we sit down, my husband asks me that why hadn’t she sat us at the table for four in the corner which was empty. As I was responding that maybe they were waiting for a party of four to sit, the hostess walks a couple to sit at said table. I therefore proceeded to ask her why were we not seated at that table since she just seated a couple. She was extreme rude and even told the waitress trying to take our order, “I don’t know why you are even taking their order because they were rude from the moment they walked in.” I proceed to express how inconceivable thus entire scene was and how she expected us to tolerate such behavior never before encountered by us especially at an expensive restaurant as this is. We ate our dInner in peace, paid more than $99.00 plus 20% tip for the waitress’s service. The hostess was a black middle age lady with two long braids. Needless to say, you have lost two customers that enjoyed all of the previous visits and did not mind paying for an expensive meal after visiting family. Shame on your Human Resources team for hiring this person and to the waitress for not even apologizing for her colleague’s rude and distasteful treatment of a customer. We will NOT tolerate behavior such as this from anyone...
Read moreMy selection was ok for the money, but I should have read the other reviews first and opted for some of those higher priced recommendations. The reason I put 3 stars on atmosphere was an issue with staff. It was busy and that’s expected at an airport restaurant at noon hour on a Saturday so customers had to be ok waiting a bit. At one point a server got very angry at another server’s mistake on missing some customers in her section and created a scene. She publicly scolded the other server and for the entire hour I was there I watched her retell the story in dramatic flare to every other associate she encountered and to continue to insult the targeted server. The server getting reamed out kept a smile on her face and tried to rise above it, but the other server would not let it go. Other staff came to her rescue helping to take orders and one even rubbed her back in a gesture of support. I tend to notice these things, but I didn’t realize other customers were as well until the woman next to me commented “that was intense” when she got up to leave after eating. My sense is the angry associate is the better server; understands customer expectations, stays on top of service better, etc., but - at that moment at least - she lacked the capacity to deal with an issue professionally in a way not so obvious to customers who honestly appeared less affected by service delays from a server than by her...
Read moreThe crab cakes were INCREDIBLE. Baltimore is obviously going to tout their title as crab cake capitol to no end, however being a RI native (born and lived in all my life) I'm not going to quietly stomach sub-par seafood. However if the rest of MD is like this place, they're gonna give us a run for our money (on crabs at least, no one outside New England can outdo us on clams and quahogs.) The alcohol list was also great, and featured some interesting craft drinks along with the usual booze you'd find anywhere. I only had a small sample of the menu, but what I experienced was fantastic. The staff as well were exceptionally friendly, professional, and another highlight of the meal. Whether it was usual expectations of timely service, or amicable discussions on the liquor, they were all very friendly and fantastic. The major negatives is that it can be very busy and a bit crowded given that it is in the middle of a busy airport. Not unexpected but if you're looking for a quick bite with only 30 minutes to board your plane, this probably isn't a great idea. Also be prepared for LOTS of other patrons to have varying levels of carry-on items stacked around them in the aisles. However even with these set-backs I have to give the staff credit for working with you around these issues. Things like asking to pay for the meal when you place your order instead of the check at the end...
