I hardly ever leave reviews, but after my last couple visits at Pine Street, I felt compelled. Loretta's Pine Street Cafe used to be our favorite place for breakfast, both dine in and take out.
Since the change in ownership, we have done take out one time and dine in one time. Both left us greatly disappointed. We did take out shortly after the change in ownership, and ordered two of our staples, which we were glad to see made the transition: stuffed hash brown and the fitness omelette. The stuffed hash browns were so greasy and oily that the oil leaked through the styrofoam container. The plastic bag that the container was placed in had a pool of grease. The fitness omelette was nearly half the size of what it used to be and contained much less filling than what it used to, it was mainly all egg. The vegetables had been the best part, previously! We were so disappointed that we didn't go back for a few months.
Yesterday, we tried going to one of our new favorite breakfast spots, but the wait was a little long, so we thought we would try to give Pine Street a second chance. We were seated right away, we ordered quickly after being seated, and were served our coffee right away. Then it wen't downhill. My husband ordered the sausage gravy skillet and I ordered the griddle combo. My coffee mug sat empty for a while before our waitress came back to ever offer a refill. One thing I loved about Pine Street previously was the quick service and how they always kept my coffee full! After over 30 minutes of waiting for our food, our waitress finally brought my husband his skillet and only 1/2 of my order. She set the pancake and french toast in front of me and said that the rest of my order would be right out. So we sat, and sat, and sat. The rest of my order was simply an egg, hash browns, and sausage... nothing crazy or out of the ordinary! Our waitress went back and forth a couple times and said that it should be right out. I watched trays and trays of food come out of the kitchen, but for some reason, my egg, hash browns, and sausage weren't done. We decided to eat what we had before it got cold. My husbands skillet was good, and hot when it came out. My pancake was fine, nothing we couldn't make at home. The french toast, I would MUCH RATHER have at home. They tasted almost chemically.
After almost 15 minutes of waiting for the other half of my order, we asked the waitress to just have it boxed up and for our check. She brought the check, and said she would have the boxed food right away. We waited for almost another 10 minutes. She never even went back to the kitchen to check if the rest of the order was done. Again, it was just eggs, hash browns, and sausage! We finally asked her if our food was ready yet and she said oops I forgot!
As happy as we are for Loretta and her much deserved retirement, we greatly miss...
Read moreAhoy, me hearties,
Set yer compass for a tale of high seas hilarity in the quaint port of Ferrysburg, Michigan, inside a ship-shaped establishment known as Pine Street Cafe. What seemed like a calm morn for a scurvy dog to enjoy his bacon 'n eggs, turned into a swashbuckling adventure with the ketchup 'n syrup flasks!
Ye heard it right, me lads 'n lasses. No sooner had I requested the ketchup to douse me hash browns, than a lively deckhand asked if they might borrow it for a spell. Aye, borrow the ketchup, right in the middle of me breakfast! With a laugh and a shrug, I handed it over.
Imagine me surprise when they came around again, this time asking for the syrup, just as me pancakes arrived! They scurried away with it like they'd found a buried treasure, leaving me to stare at me dry pancakes in bewilderment, and erupting in laughter.
It was like watching a peculiar sea shanty being performed by ketchup and syrup flasks, a dance that had them disappearing and reappearing at the most unexpected times. 'Twas a game of hide 'n seek, and the condiments were winning!
The routine continued, turning me breakfast into a rollicking comedy. Aye, I felt like a jolly ol' pirate, not knowing where me next bit of treasure would come from. If I didn't know better, I'd have thought I was being tested for a secret pirate initiation!
But worry not, me mateys, the flasks always made their way back, the deckhands ensuring we had what we needed, albeit at odd intervals. And truth be told, it only added to the mirth 'n merriment of the morning.
I'm raising me flask and giving Pine Street Cafe a full five-star salute. Not just for their hearty grub and cozy quarters, but for their spirited sense of fun. Who knew a breakfast could be such an uproarious adventure, full of laughter and unexpected requests?
So, if ye be wanting not just a meal, but a belly full of laughs, chart yer course for Pine Street Cafe. Just be ready to part with yer condiments at a moment's notice, and don't say I didn't warn ye!
Laughing on the lido deck,

Read moreYounger girl that was pregnant was very friendly, and was giving great service my waitress however was terrible! after waiting 10 minutes with an empty coffee cup she said when bringing me food I'll be right back with more coffee, then went and socialized with a few other people after another ten minutes I asked the bus girl if she could ask a waitress to please get me some coffee, she was VERY polite and helpful! She asked what kind and got it herself, after about five more minutes my older waitress decided to bring me my bill and coffee. Pregnant waitress 5 stars, very young bus girl 5+ stars, my waitress -2 food wasn't bad but service sucked, I'll try again in the future but getting a different waitress. There were only a total of 10 tables of people here at the time. I do have to add the VERY pregnant waitress is still going out of her way to bring me coffee 🙂🙂🙂🙂 I'm not picky just want coffee lol it was just brought to my attention that my waitress name is Donna, so...
