Burger Theory - Spring Lake — Restaurant in Spring Lake Township

My wife and I had literally been looking forward to steaks from Jacks since we were here last summer. While we were disappointed to see it had been replaced by a ballroom, we decided to give the burger place a try while we were at the pool.

Placed an order for pickup, the kid who took my order forgot what I was ordering as he entered it into the computer. Took my name and number, but didn’t give me a total and I had to ask him what time the food would be ready. He said 20 minutes.

I went to get my order after 20 minutes and the 4 people milling around behind the bar couldn’t find my order. They actually asked me “do you know who took your order so we can find him?”

So at this point I’ve been standing there for 5 minutes in an entirely empty restaurant (which should’ve been a dead giveaway) and this kid comes out of the kitchen and bumps into me, literally. He goes “oh, have you been helped yet?” I said yeah they’re in back looking for my food. He says “Oh are you Greg? I have your food I’ll be right back.” So this kid was apparently hiding my food from his coworkers until he happened to find me waiting impatiently at the bar.

So I finally get my food and he just hands me the bag. STILL hasn’t told me how much it is, or asked me to pay for it. I almost walked out without paying but decided to be honest. I gave him cash for the food and he disappeared for another couple minutes to god knows where to get my change.

And then the food! One lukewarm burger on a cheap bun with a dry onion ring on top, and a cold patty melt with undercooked bacon and dried out corned beef on it! Unreal. I’ve had better food and service at White Castle. Big mistake to get...

Eating here at the moment. Our waitress took our orders. We watched every other table get seated and served their food and we waited one hour before I asked an employee about our orders. They said it was because they try to bring everything out at once but we didnt get our appetizers and other tables did. They brought it out pretty quick after I said something but everything was cold. And we actually were missing 2 peoples orders. One order came out after a few minutes, we waited and had to ask about the second one to which she said they didn't have the order but she would get it in. She did take the order in the beginning. THEN when they brought the last order out 20 minutes later and it wasn't even what she asked for. She actually didnt get a meal because she had been waiting an hour and half and we didnt want to wait anymore. I don't normally make a big deal out of stuff but this was wild. I don't know what the issue was but this was offensively poor service.

I will say the assistant managers sister came and apologized sincerely and seems to want to genuinely fix it. The rest of the staff does not seem to care much. Because of her my review went from a one star to a two. She is an asset to this business and should be handling the training of their staff. And the manager on duty has come out and apologized and is comping some of our meal. I appreciate how apologetic she was and thats taking it from a 2 star to a 3 star. We're just still here waiting for the bill and ready to leave and we're at 2 hours lol this was a unique experience tonight and I appreciate the two ladies who did help out. I'm...

We came there on Saturday evening..thinking we were going to enjoy listening to some music sitting at the tiki bar..we were so disappointed that it was all gone..BIG MISTAKE! To take that away. Anyways thought we would at least stay for a drink...didnt have my wine I drink..bartender couldn't even make a drink my husband ordered..but told him he could go inside and get it..really! Bartender also told a customer who ordered a dirty martini if she wanted olives she would have to go inside to get them..we were sitting on the benches which also was a tray with a dinner on it..it was sitting there about 15 minutes when a so called server walked by..we asked her if she could take it away...she actually was going to give it to a customer until I spoke up and told her how long it was sitting there. I decided I would go inside to ask the bartender if she had my wine in there..I approched the bar...probably stood there 5 minutes before I even was acknowledged..now keep in mind there were 6 servers/ bartenders back there not knowing what they were doing.I asked my question and someone answered me..( no)...one of the worker's (calling them a worker because they sure were not bartenders) was asked by a different customer what time you close the worker actually said " I'm not sure'.. Who ever does hiring needs to get some experienced servers/ bartenders. if I could give no stars I would. It was a big mistake to take away jacks..that was packed everynight. NEVER AGAIN!
