Okay, so I'd like to score this on more than what's written here, and since this is the temporary shop before the new Tokyo Steakhouse launches, I want to be very clear and consistent, especially since the place is very new.
Hibachi Dash has great food, and acceptable service. The servers did nothing wrong, and did fine. But the two worst parts about this place are two fold; the price, and the atmosphere.
I went with me and my partner and totaled $55 with a 20% tip. For the area, this is exceptionally high. The food is good quality, which is great, but for every other factor, it just feels out of place.
The shop has 0 atmosphere. I honestly thought that when I sat down, a police interrogator would stop by to ask me questions about some case. The music is... interesting, to say the least, but rap music is the absolute last thing I want to hear when spending $55.
When I go somewhere to eat, especially sit down and eat, I love a good, strong atmosphere. Half of the reason why I went to Tokyo was because it was a bit on the darker side, and it played lofi and a mixture of Japanese themed songs (even some Studio Ghibli tracks appeared, which are some of my favorite movies of all time; in fact, I'd say Princess Mononoke is my #1 favorite movie). On top of this, it had a lot of ornaments and charm that made it feel cozy, even if the tables were a bit old, or the building was nearing the end of its life. I'd sit down there, and I'd feel at home. Not a stranger or a suspect in a case.
In comparison, Hibachi Dash is worrying of what may become of my favorite hibachi place after it's rebuilt. The atmosphere here is... bad. It's excessively bright with bland walls, the music doesn't fit, it feels like I'm in an office building. You don't want to stay here to eat. And if you're taking food to go, then the food should be around $10-$15 a head. This came out to around $27.5 a head with tip (without tip it would be around $23 a head, which is still high). I don't feel inclined to tip here because again, I don't want to be in the building at all. But I did so out of respect for my favorite spot.
If the owner of the Tokyo Steakhouse reads this, please listen to a regular customer. When you remodel TSH, please keep in mind the old atmosphere and vibe. Ornamental and cozy. If you try to modernize it, you're going to lose me. I'm not sure if you care, but what you're doing at Hibachi Dash is both too pricey, and too much of a clash. It's the same delicious food, but none of the charm nor interaction with the employees; it's priced at higher-end dining for a fast casual experience, which is too much in general.
So please. Keep TSH cozy and welcoming, keep the price, but don't modernize it to the point of discomfort (as someone who works in the industry of comfort, try taking a look at Mancy's for an idea of what's comfortable for the customer while still being modern and elegant; take that atmosphere, add in some oriental charm, and you're golden). For Hibachi Dash, lower the price by around 20%, and improve the atmosphere (the reason for the lower price is that you're competing with chipotle for this type of market; they're floating around $16 a head for a full, fast casual meal). Nothing tacky, but some decor would go a long way. I would be sad if you sacrificed food quality for the lower price, but as it stands I don't think I'll ever return to Hibachi Dash in the future (it's much further away than TSH as well).
Please get back to me with a reply, I'd like to know your intentions with the rebuild, and if I should mark TSH off my list for good. I just...
Read moreWe loved Tokyo Steak House, and their 1/2 off menu, so it was sad to hear that Hibachi Dash isn't doing that. Ordered online. The Hibachi doesn’t even come with soup and salad anymore like it used to, but it’s still $21. Online said my order was almost $36 at check out. I did comment and ask for sauces, which it does state in the comments that certain things may be extra. No problem. Went to pick up and when I was going to pay, I was told my total was almost $42! 😳 I pulled out my phone to show my total was $35 and some change. I was told that it was extra for the sauce. I was shocked ($5-$6 for 3 tiny plastic cups of sauce??) I shrugged it off and paid bc I was REALLY looking forward to this. The receipt isn’t detailed either to show the breakdown of the charges. Before leaving, I was re-offered $2 because he realized it was overcharged and I was right. Still…almost $4 for sauce? When I got home, the hibachi juice spilled all over the bag and ruined everything in the bottom. The veggies were not cooked at all, audibly crunchy. The sushi looked like it was put in an old, re-used container. It was scratched and missing the black coating on it in multiple spots. It was also supposed to be a crunchy roll and it had the texture of wet sand, zero crunch. Overall, it tasted decent but I think the prices definitely need reevaluated. I can spend less at Texas Roadhouse for 2 people, including a tip. I think I’m good just skipping this for now and waiting for...
Read more1st order pick-up last night from Hibachi Dash III in Findlay. Great Food!! Started with the Harumaki (Crispy Japanese Spring Rolls), Calamari rings and Crab Rangoon. All 3 were very good. The Calamari was my favorite. The dipping sauces were very good. I had Hibachi Chicken. Fried noodles (not what we would consider fried) were more like sauced noodles, which is a very good thing. The dish was Excellent! Great portions. She had the House Special Noodle w/ Chicken, Beef, Shrimp and Veg. and loved every bite. Just for fun we had the Buckeye Roll. It was great. We Highly recommend Hibachi Dash. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, we will be back. Service with a smile. Can't wait to try the Gyoza and Popcorn Lobster. Seems to be popular already, in the 5 min+/- I was there, there were three other pick-ups. It looks like they are doing well. Great new restaurant on the west side of Findlay. Easy online ordering. Hopefully they will get on one of the delivery...
