Drove quite sometime and felt like getting some protein and a little salad. When greeted by the Sales Manager of the restaurant (General Manager) he took our order and when we got to the steak selection, I accidentally said medium for my preferred choice, but then I was interrupted and then I went back and said sorry I meant to say medium well. The sales manager decided to take it upon himself and tell me to “pick one” it seemed he was inconvenienced by the choice for the so-called 8 ounce steak. When he asked if we wanted mushrooms and all of the sides (so we can pay $3.00 more per side) we chose not to and that seem to have bothered him a lot so then he wanted to know what kind of drink we wanted and we said just ice water and that too bothered him because he was trying to push for bottled water (to pay more) but instead he used a tone saying “so what you were saying is you want tap-water instead of bottled water?” Without answering his very stupid question we moved on! So we kindly paid the $60.00 for two dinners (one side, one entree) and $8.00 each for the salad bar. When we went to go and sit down and then get our plates for the salad bar, we were a little bit set back because we noticed that this particular Sizzler has many items missing from their salad bar that you would normally find in other Sizzlers. Other pastas and vegetables for starters and certain items were easily from a can and not prepared fully including the macaroni salad (smart &final). They had just a couple or three salad dressings compared to other locations and just seemed to be a few steps behind on this salad bar of theirs. When we got our dinners my 6 ounce steak (was supposed to be 8oz) was fine and my wife’s steak was definitely 8oz and it too was fine. But when we got to the baked potato, it was black as meaning it was an expired potato!!! I told the waiter and he looked perplexed but had nothing to say, he did ask if we wanted it replaced but since the whole experience of the visit was wasted in effort we chose to decline the wait any further. No need for the sales manager to apologize or send a generic response asking us to contact them. It gets old and next time when staying at a hotel nearby we will be more willing to go to Colin’s or somewhere in the old district downtown. We made a bad choice on this one! P.S. we tipped the waiter almost 20% of the total bill regardless of the expired food item and the smaller than advertised steak. The tap water as the manager tried upselling was fine (filtered). I worry for the elderly that visit this location when the sales manager is at...
Read moreFirst some background- my husband and I are currently in the process of moving from Washington to Texas so we are on day 5 of an almost 10 day leisurely road trip. We are also older and huge fans of the classic Will Ferrel movie "Talladega Nights" so naturally when we stopped in Flagstaff and saw a Sizzler we made dinner plans.
Now we did not go into this with the thoughts of the amazing food we've eaten in various parts of the country, no we went to Sizzler with Sizzler sized expectations.
But even with that being said it somehow managed being worse.
He ordered tri-tip, medium rare and the salad bar. I decided to take a chance and ordered the "grilled" shrimp and steak.
Now admittedly I am not a shrimp expert however I have been fat my whole life and absolutely know the difference between steamed and grilled. Total is 8 shrimp and the four I did eat was just to ensure I wasn't having a stroke and the shrimp were indeed steamed. Nice try Sizzler.
My steak, what little there was absolutely was not medium rare, it was very well done. You cannot offer medium rare on that small of a cut of meat. You're not that good, sorry.
Why did the cucumbers on the salad bar taste like soap Sizzler? What are you doing back there?
The music was a bipolar mix which has now made me want to commit violent acts against Ed Sheeran.
Never in my life have I been eating somewhere while looking at the window wistfully at a Denny's thinking I should have gone to Denny's.
I'm a good person Sizzler, and I didn't deserve that. I just wanted to have a nostalgic, middle of the road experince that was reasonably priced.
Not 86.50 of torture that made me so angry it spiritually weakened me and now Satan has a foothold into my soul.
Not cool...
Read moreMost disgusting meal I've eaten in decades. We stopped at this location for dinner on our way back to Phoenix. Growing up in Northern California, we went to Sizzler on a months basis. They had great steak and decent food at an affordable price. Those days are long gone obviously. They served us artificial powdered potatoes, that was all you get with the entree food orders. The powdered potatoes were like something you would buy at the dollar store. The food honestly looked like it from a homeless shelter. The portion of food was also tiny, like a toddlers meal. The same guy that took our order and money when we walked in, also dropped the food at our table. He acted like he really hated his job and it definitely showed. He brought the food out and we never saw him ever again. I had ordered a steak burger, which had almost nothing on it. Imagine a cheap fast food burger, only smaller, and then getting charged $18+ for it. My wife ordered fish, which was about the size of two human fingers in size total, and it cost $23. They advertise that you can have endless cheese bread. The guy had dropped off 2 pieces of soggy, cold and nasty tasting pieces of whatever it was supposed to be bread....yuck. Then paying $4 for 3/4 of a cup of watered down ice tea with no taste. No refill, no anything. I do not understand how this awful place is even in business??? What a horrific and disgusting meal. To top that off, I had stomach pains for several hours after eating this crap on the way home. A hamburger, a piece of tiny fish and dollar store artificial potatoes, about 2 tablespoons in total size. No butter, no anything. This nasty meal cost us over $52. AVOID AVOID...
