Anyone interested in visiting this place, please read the below review/experience as it will help you be prepared for what you could encounter. It was an ABSOLUTE UNFORGETTABLE DISASTROUS experience.
We were visiting flagstaff from Dallas and was craving for some Indian food. We were a party of 16 and underrstandably we had to wait. The table was setup for all of us and was happy about that. The good experience ended there as soon as our arrogant waiter came to take our orders. We felt this place treats Indians different from non-indians.
Our arrogant waiter was so rude and not helpful in suggesting or even patient to take orders. He was snapping and almost yelling out. At the end of taking the order, he was yelling out all the items that we ordered to make sure he got all the order which the entire restaurant could hear. I was planning on ordering drinks but no one came back after giving us our 1st glass of water (not even refills). The food arrived in batches (again understandable due to large group). But when I asked about one of the items he said it is getting ready and when he brought it to our table, he was yelling out that this is the last item of our order. It did not stop there. When we were ready to pay, he came out with the bill and yelled out that if we pay cash then there is a discount. None of us asked for any discount and we were not interested in any discount. It is illegal to give discount for paying cash as it avoids them to pay tax on it. He was yelling out that it is a great offer which, I am sure, the entire restaurant heard. He kept yelling repeatedly that it is the final offer. I did not want to make a scene right there as the restaurant was crowded. We were so EMBARRASSED as he made it look like we were there to eat free food or not interested in paying. He was so arrogant and very disrespectful which every adult in our table were dumbfounded with this experience. He was acting like he was too smart and we will not understand what he is saying. We had been in this country lot longer than he has. This was an ABSOLUTE DISASTROUS EXPERIENCE. We have been traveling as a group to many places and visited many Indian restaurants and this was by far the worst experience we had. It is a disgrace to call it a Indian restaurant and disrespect Indian customers like this. They may be the only Indian restaurant around here and prefer to cater to non-indians but they cannot treat paying customers in such a disgraceful way especially this arrogant waiter. I did not get his name but you can recognize him as he will act too smart and use "holistic" repeatedly even when it doesn't make sense.
I did complain to one of the guys who looked like the manager of the place while paying for the bill with CREDIT CARD and NOT CASH as we were never interested in any freaking discount. The manager seem to agree that sometimes this guy acts like that and he apologized. I told him that I would have excused if it was one disrespectful act as he might have had a bad day. But continously acting out and treating paying customers like this is NEVER acceptable. If they don't talk to him and make changes, they will lose customers mostly...
Read moreThere are bunch of suggestions from my end.
There are restaurants which get really busy and so they ask guest to enter their name and number of people in the waiting list. We did the same here. We were told it would take 20 mins minimum and due to lack of waiting space, we waited in car. After 20 mins, our name was cancelled from the list because they called out our name and we were not present. They can either work on increasing the waiting space or have a reminder sent to the guest via message. We had to write down our name again and wait another 10 mins.
They served us the papad and green salsa as a complimentary starter. We ordered our food within 5 mins of sitting onto the table. The waiter said we better order fast as there are larger groups that entered with us. So we rushed in ordering. We waited 20 mins exact just to get the soup.
They served everything at once. We got a small table as were 2 people. Of course everything wont fit in table at once but that none of their concern. They served the lassi in the begin just before soup and ret everything at once. Please work on this. Our main course got cold till the time we finished the appetizers.
Now comes the worst part. We ordered the “vegetable soup” which is described as a “lentil based soup”. We got a tomato soup with carrots and peas in it. We didn’t even finish the soup because the soup had a powdery texture (just like how you would heat up a ready to eat soup packet) waste of money on soup.
The panner tikka started had a little bit of extra salt. We just ate as we didn’t want to wait for a replacement or anything.
The main courses were fine but by this time we were already in a mood to just eat whatever and leave. Also the person taking the order would literally speak so loud the next two tables could hear our order and we could for nearby orders.
Overall, its not worth the money yo be honest. I hav had excellent food and service at the very same price range across US. Since this is the only local Indian restaurant, there is no...
Read moreOur recent dining experience at Delhi Palace in Flagstaff, AZ, on August 8, 2023, left my husband and I utterly impressed, both with their delectable Indian cuisine and their top-notch service. Without a doubt, this gem stands as the epitome of exceptional dining in Flagstaff, setting the bar high for both taste and service.
As genuine lovers of Indian cuisine, we had high expectations, and Delhi Palace surpassed them with flying colors. The menu boasted an array of traditional dishes, each prepared with the perfect blend of spices and flavors. We savored every bite of the Chicken Tikka Masala, which was a true masterpiece - tender pieces of chicken immersed in a rich, creamy tomato sauce that had us craving more. You can order the spice level to your liking and we chose medium (level 3). Equally impressive was the Garlic Naan, a fragrant bread that was delicious and made fresh to order. Each forkful was a burst of textures and tastes that left us in awe of the cuisine.
However, what truly set this experience apart was the unparalleled service. The staff at Delhi Palace went above and beyond to make our visit unforgettable. They were attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and incredibly friendly. From recommending dishes based on our preferences to ensuring our glasses were never empty, their attention to detail was commendable. It's rare to find such a dedicated restaurant that genuinely cares about their patrons' experience. If you're in Flagstaff and yearning for a culinary adventure that will transport your taste buds to India, look no further than Delhi Palace.
In conclusion, our visit to Delhi Palace was an enchanting journey filled with extraordinary flavors and impeccable service. This establishment has truly mastered the art of creating an authentic Indian dining experience. Without a doubt, it has secured its place as the best Indian restaurant in Flagstaff, leaving an indelible mark on our...
