This was the worst hotel experience that I have ever had. I have stayed at Motel 6 before in other locations and had no complaints. They have been budget locations but they still had clean rooms and good customer service. My husband and I were guest at the Motel 6 in Flagstaff, AZ on the west side, and we stayed there from June 8 through June 12, 2022.
Day 1 I had to go to the front desk and no one was there. As I stood at the desk to wait and was reading the signage on the reception desk about Covid and the precautions that the hotel takes. Basically they do not clean the rooms if you were staying more than a - night you will only have your room cleaned when you Leave. I have been in hotels since Covid started and their housekeepers take precautions such as masks and gloves but they don’t stop cleaning your room.
Day 2 The next day we were out of towels and wash rags after we showered so I called the front desk to find out how to get fresh towels. They told us we should leave the dirty towels outside our door and then either find a housekeeper or go to the front desk and request towels. I thought this was a little ridiculous but I went to the front desk to get clean towels. There was no one in the office, but there was a sign saying be back soon. It did not indicate how long of a wait there would be. I went back to the front desk in the evening after my business was complete and there was a different employee there and they were able to give me some towels.
Day 3 When I was choosing a room online I picked a room that had a microwave and refrigerator. After we had dinner in our room, I put the leftovers in the fridge. The next day I wanted to reheat the leftovers, instead of spending money on another meal. I tried to start the microwave and nothing happened so I was looking around and found that the microwave was not plugged in, so I started looking for a place to plug it in. I found a place behind the TV which is where the refrigerator was plugged in and I unplugged the TV and tried to plug in the microwave but the cord would not reach there was no counter space for me to move the microwave so we just ordered dinner for that night.
Day 4 I contacted the front desk asking where we can plug in the microwave so we could reheat our food. I was told that they didn’t know what to do. I asked lady at the desk how other guest heat their food - how did they use the microwave. The response was “I don’t know.” No other assistance was offered.
If I had an issue and to get to the front desk during the day and I spoke with the lady that works the office during the day it was horrible customer service. The gentleman that worked in the evenings didn’t always have answers but at least he smiled and made it look like he was trying though I still have to say it was horrible customer service.
The ice machines usually only had one at a time that was working even though there were three machines there. Also the vending machines only work part of the time and took our money as a part of the time.
Had to swap out our own towels Had to take out our own trash Washing machine worked, but dryer did not Vending machine took our money Staff could not answers questions and they rarely smiled The front desk was...
Read moreI did not expect to be impressed, I was just looking for budget friendly accommodations for the weekend for my husband and I to go to an event in Flagstaff. Less than impressed, I was almost disappointed enough to forfeit my payment and go somewhere else. ||We were planning to share the room with another couple and thank goodness they backed out because this room was barely large enough for my husband and I. There was barely enough room for the two double beds which were each pushed up against the wall with a narrow space between them, just big enough for the nightstand. Which had no outlets, btw. There was a small desk with a wooden chair, and a tv. There was an outlet to charge my phone, but it was behind the tv and was pretty overloaded since it had the fridge and the microwave plugged into it too. |Speaking of the fridge, while it kept our drinks for the next day cold, it also leaked water all over everything somehow. ||There were no drawers, which is fine since we don't usually unpack for just a weekend, but there was also no closet. Just a clothes bar in the bathroom right next to the toilet. So my coat and dress for the next day had to be hung next to the toilet (which was thankfully the cleanest thing in the room). ||The sink area wasn't spotless but was clean enough to use. I refused to use the shower. It was probably safe, but the shower floor had no barrier between it and the bathroom floor, and when my husband showered it made the entire bathroom wet. The shower head was a handheld and mounted about 5 feet off the ground, so unless you were very short or in a wheelchair you had to hold it in one hand to shower properly. ||The sheets were clean and the walls seemed to have been painted recently. The floors looked clean at first, but then after walking across them I had to wipe my feet off before getting into bed and again before putting on socks. The flooring was new, but dark, and housekeeping is obviously not cleaning the floors between guests. ||I've stayed in many motel 6s over the years, and as a place to sleep they're usually just fine. But never again this one. Because it was a weekend my cost was over $230 for the two nights. For just a few dollars more I could have stayed at another cleaner hotel that included breakfast, a closet and a proper shower....
