Ok. At first it takes a while for me to leave a review. And, after ordering the Chicken Fried Rice about 10 times from Cathay Kitchen I can honestly give this dish a 10+ or 5 stars. Chinese family owned, this restaurant never disappoints. The chicken is succulent and tender, the rice is perfectly cooked and lightly seasoned every single time. The veggies - omg - carrots, petite green peas, sautéed onion, and yum my fave bean sprouts are lightly cooked but still crunchy. I ask each time for a small condiment cup w a lid of sweet and sour sauce because I love to dip. No extra soy sauce needed. Cathay Kitchen family is truly friendly! I would say Best in the northern KY area (Florence) second to iconic, classic Oriental Wok (in Ft. Mitchell Wong family). Cathay is consistent with very fresh ingredients and beautifully done stir fry cooking. Give them a try! You’ll love it.

Read moreThe chicken texture is really different, like it is too loose for want of a better description. The first two times we went there it was great and very authentic food. But the last two visits the chicken came as I described. The service is spotty and disorganized, but it is particularly so from one specific server.
The last visit we were seated and asked for water. It took five minutes to bring it, then we were told they would be right back to take our order. In the meantime, two different sets of people came in after us, got their drinks and orders in by a different server. Our server kept walking past us. When we finally ordered the one couple got their meals as our server walked away to place our order.
I gave it three stars because the first visits were great, but we haven't gone back since. We did however raise our concerns...
Read moreThere's 1 reason to eat here, and it isn't on the menu = ANDREW. Andrew is incredibly kind and knowledgeable about the menu. He answered all my questions patiently and intelligently. Food was above average. Egg roll is thin, not a lot of filling. The mustard and chilli paste ate homemade and excellent. Orange chicken has real orange, but a little too thick tasting. Basil frued rice uses hardly any basil. Tastes like the other fried rices. Lots of tables stay dirty, so not very appealing when you walk in. Andrew is genuine from the moment you meet him. He seems to be essential to Cathay...
