This review is somewhat lengthy and is only in reference to the particular menu items I ordered.

Ordered the Jjampong and Haemul Pajun. I did have it delivered, so I went in knowing it may not be as good/fresh as it could possibly be if ordered and eaten in the restaurant.

For the Jjampong (Thick flour noodles in a spicy broth with shrimp, mussels, calamari and vegetables) : Noodles were definitely not quite as described & definitely not the style pictured. Seemed like the noodles were just these, which I've used before and even then they didn't have that aftertaste: (images of menu picture vs noodles that I suspect were used attached below) tasted faintly like cardboard &/or old canola oil ( & that flavor also leached into the broth upon mixing) Broth tasted like it was basically just a slightly tangy, little salty something or other with a bit of bland and very mild hot sauce in it. With a hint of the flavor of the not so great seafood. Not much else in the way of flavor except what's mentioned above. (obviously wasn't expecting the seafood to be fresh in a landlocked state. But was still fairly disappointed.) Mussels were decent though. Shrimp & squid tasted kinda freezer burnt & were more rubbery than I'd expect. Vegetables were sparse and if there was any garlic involved I didn't see or taste any.

The Haemul Pajun: (Korean style seafood pancake) :Somehow, while containing things that should be rather flavorful, it tasted like almost nothing but lightly fried bread/batter. The sauce it came with helped a little. I'd still try other things from this place & haven't ruled them out. Many others seem to like much of the other stuff on the menu. Not mad, but disappointed. Especially for the price. Wasn't exactly expensive but for $30 before tax, tip and delivery fee, ( & that's after including a $5 discount via the delivery service) the volume didn't compensate for the lack of flavor/quality. Won't tell people not to eat here, just definitely wouldn't recommend these two menu items. Would like to try these items again if they improved the...

Unfortunately, my experience was a bit of a mixed bag. We went there right when it opened and there were very few people inside as well.

My friend and I had gone to Kopan today for lunch and while the doppokki and sushi were delicious we had a bad incident with our waiter, Troy.

When looking at the sushi menus I wasn’t sure the prices for some with everything being half off so sought clarification.

Regarding the nigiri sushi, I was trying to figure out how many came with an order and how much it was for that. In hindsight, I think the waiter was confused but didn’t seek to clarify. As he’d told me the price and two came with an order but you could order more or even one if you wanted.

It wasn’t noticed until later but, additionally the waiter had given me ‘white tuna’ instead of ‘tuna’ as well.

At the time of the bill, it became apparent that the price for the sushi was double what I’d expected.

When Troy came back I tried to bring it up and he’d said that that is the correct price. I tried to mention that this was exactly what I’d asked him about earlier and he’d told me otherwise. He said nothing in response.

I tried to end it by saying maybe in the future try to clarify but he grabbed the check with my card and swiftly walked away cutting me off in the middle of my sentence.

In the end, he came back and apologized however, it left a very sour experience for us.

Likely...

Placed a carryout order at 6:20 tonight and was quoted a 20-25 minute wait time. Arrived at 6:45, the high end of the quoted wait time, as I had a tired toddler with me and didn't want to subject a crowded restaurant to his antics.

Food was not ready until 7:15, more than double the quoted wait time, while I was faced with the decision to either wrangle a tired toddler or abandon my order.

Kindly asked the staff, who were very apologetic, if the order could be discounted or a credit issued to compensate for the additional, unplanned wait, only to be told that this was not possible since the only management is the owner who doesn't work nights or weekends. I understand that things happen, and that wait times may be longer than originally quoted, but the fact that no one will be available to assist with any kind of compensation for at least two days is unacceptable, and frankly poor management.

My family have been fairly regular customers since Kopan opened. There have been issues like this TN the past, but never to the point that I thought to ask for compensation. Unfortunately due to this experience, I am going to take my...

Went here with my friend and her mom. I got the side swipe roll and it was delicious, wanted to order sashimi but didn’t because it was waayyyy overpriced. I don’t remember exactly but they wanted to charge like 6 dollars for one singular piece of sashimi, no way. My friend’s mom got the clear noodle Korean dish but she didn’t really enjoy it too much. There were a bunch of really hard almost branch like texture fern pieces. Not even the waitress was sure if they were edible. Service was okay but it seemed like our poor waitress was literally waiting the entire restaurant by herself. Overall it wasn’t a bad restaurant and we haven’t tried a ton of stuff from there so we can’t speak for all the dishes. The sushi was enjoyable. Atmosphere I will say though could definitely be better the place was decorated very bad with clashing colors all over the place.

We stopped on a whim, seeking something different. The mainly Korean diner also offered sushi, udon and more. The food was very good. We tried the Jalapeño Rangoon, which was basically a home made jalapeño popper. The vegetarian gyoza was good as well. I tried the Kim Chee Fried rice with tofu and my wife got the vegetable tempura udon. The udon was good, but they added a chicken wing to the tempura (not fun for a vegan). The tempura was not made with Pablo, which was disappointing. Prices were reasonable and service was good. Always makes me laugh that they have a sign for 50% off of sushi. Why not just reduce the menu price!!
