Golden Dragon Restaurant — Restaurant in Florence

I’ve been eating at this particular location for many many years. It was established as, King’s Lite, The owners served the best, Asian (Chinese / Cantonese) Food in Florence. The Boneless chicken was the best boneless chicken served in the area and in fact, it was the best overall entrée you could purchase compared to any restaurant in the area. When the pandemic hit the previous owners closed any options to eat inside the restaurant. After the pandemic kept a takeout only option. When you lose interaction with customers, you lose the ability to not serve, probably food but build relationships with local patrons. The previous owner provided a very poor customer experience, unless you like listening to someone yell at cooks in the kitchen, his wife like a geisha girl. Anyone with this much anger cannot focus on good food and taking care of the customer. I Encourage the new owners to reevaluate the processes they have in place and focus on three things-Send out quality food, which is fresh and colorful, keep restaurant clean, regardless of whether people are eating or take out, and save arguments with staff until after closing. I guess a fourth recommendation would be to Treat others like you would like to be treated. That’s a cliché but clichés Exist because they make sense. There is a cultural difference, but everyone appreciates kindness, cleanliness, and food. Until I read consistently positive reviews from the newest reviews, I will my money elsewhere. New owners? To go and pick up only service. I used to love the food here. I’ve been stopping at the Golden Dragon for years when I am in Florence, SC.

I think they just recently changed management. Right around the time when I think the change happened the food started tasting weird. As of my order today, it was exactly how I like it again . I hope they maintain the consistency by listening to or reading their reviews.

I always get the pork egg foo young. My guy likes the pork fried rice with chicken wings. They only give a little gravy For the egg foo young. Does not cover the eggs.

Everything has always tasted as if cooked fresh. The food usually tastes good. The locals used to love this place. It stays packed. People are always calling in and waiting in the parking lot whenever I’m around.

No outdoor seating no accessible ramp or seating. Not kid friendly

As of October 2023 I think they may be changing from to go only to sitting and having table service inside again.

I say this because they have changed the seating area and we can walk in again but I’m not sure.

If i could give it a minus star I would. Must be under new ownership again. The original owners food was great. After they sold it I thought the new owners were nice and the service and food were very good. Ordered take out yesterday. Picked up food took it to car and checked. It was not even my order. I took it back in. The girl at desk was working 2 phones and kept calling Elaine to come up front. I waited and waited til she finally came. Found my order and gave it to me. Did not apologize or anything. When I got home and unpacked the food i wished i had just asked for my money back and let them keep the food. It was so greasy. The wonton soup looked like dark muddy water and tasted like worchestershire sauce with nothing in it but 2 wontons. The worse wonton soup i have ever had. The fried rice was yellow and had no taste. The wings were greasy and had no taste. The moo goo gai pan was mostly mushrooms. All in all the food was horrible and so was the service. I will NEVER eat there again and would not recommend ...
