We have visited Takoyaki in Florence twice and left impressed both times. The room feels modern and calm. Lighting sits in the sweet spot. Music stays present without getting in the way. The decor gives you a clean, minimal look that still feels interesting.
Service stands out. The staff are attentive and genuinely friendly. They check on you at the right moments and make you feel welcome. If I could rate the team higher than five stars, I would.
On our first visit we tried the salmon nigiri. The portion was generous, but the cut was a bit off and there was no wasabi on the rice under the fish. A small tweak there would make a big difference.
The Tonkotsu Ramen is the star. The broth is rich and balanced, the noodles have great bite, and the toppings add depth without getting muddy. It is likely the best ramen we have had in America.
We also tried the Beef Negimaki and miso soup. The negimaki was tender and interesting but leaned one dimensional in flavor. The miso soup was good and warming, though simple.
The chicken Yaki Udon was delicious and satisfying. The noodles have excellent texture and the chicken carries a delicate smokiness that works well. I would order it again.
We tried the takoyaki as well. It tasted good and had the right chew, but it would be better served hotter.
Overall, Takoyaki delivers a great atmosphere, standout ramen, and excellent service. With a small refinement on the nigiri, a touch more depth on the negimaki, and hotter takoyaki, this place would be an easy top pick in town. We will be back, especially...
Read moreThe hostess and server were quite attentive on our visit. The tonkatsu ramen is phenomenal. They make it themselves and I was pleasantly surprised by it. The udon was good, and felt clean to eat. I would order that again. The reason I give the food four stars instead of five is due to the quality of the other dishes from a previous visit. The takoyaki could have been hotter, and I have had better in Greenville. The sushi was a bit of a let down. The rice was made correctly, but the quality of the salmon in the nigiri was not up to my standards. It was served with the same wasabi everyone in Florence seems to use (actually horseradish). However, I am a food snob so take what I say with a...
Read moreDay 1 opening success. They need a round of applause. Greeted at the door, atmosphere was unique and sat quickly during lunch. Server was extremely nice and patient. We were so caught up in the moment I forgot to take some pictures. There was a minor issue with one of the dishes but corrected quickly. All in all great addition to the food scene in Florence, the light show will definitely be nice for the bar in the evenings. Will be coming back in a few...
