Normally, this McDonald's is great. The staff is incredibly friendly and conscientious. The "kids" on staff are a bright spot in anyone's day and management has definitely got everything under control.
The food is regular McDonald's fare with plenty of options for adults and children. It's very clean and has a PlayPlace for the smaller kids which is walled off with glass in a way that their noisy exuberance isn't heard in the rest of the seating areas.
Coupons are sent out every so often which makes it a little more affordable when I do choose to indulge with fast food.
Of course, every once in a while I've run into the typical twice salted fries which is fairly normal for fast food and quickly remedied if you ask. Other than that, they never seem to have an issue with old oil (like a lot of fast food places do) or anything like that. Their bathroom facilities are also very clean.
My only issue is this: The last three times I went through the drive-thru and ordered chicken McNuggets. I received instead, chicken strips. It's on me that I didn't notice the price difference at the time, but I was in a hurry, just used a card to pay and never realised anything was amiss until I got home and add unwilling to go back out again. The strips are alright and some may prefer them. But, what I wanted were the regular old nuggets.
By the third time this happened, I almost bought in to a theory that it was done on purpose to promote the new strips. But, that's crazy, right? Well, what's crazier is the fact that not only do I order by meal number, but I also confirm verbally, chicken nuggets! I don't know what's going on with this. Perhaps the meal numbers on the sign outside don't match the ones they use at the register? I've no clue.
In future, I feel I will either have to go in to order, and never come in a rush. Or, I'll have to give up on nuggets and just...
Read moreThe employees here don't even try to meet the bare minimum customer service standards, they are rude, they refuse to do simple things like carry the food to your table when you order table service, or fill a drink cup for a mobile to-go order. When asked to do basic things that are part of their job's requirements they get pissy and rude, when asked questions about the menu they name-call and belittle (not me, but I witnessed this first hand when a nice old lady was asking questions) you for not already knowing every single detail about every item on their entire menu before entering the store.
The food is no better or worse than the average McDonald's location, though they are a lot more sloppy than the ones I'm used to, sauce all over the outside of the buns, 50/50 chance of having the patty actually be in between the buns, but that's common at fast food places.
All in all I think 3 stars is way too generous, but not ALL of the employees here are so problematic, some of them actually go beyond their job duties and try to provide satisfactory customer service, those select few employees are the only reason I bumped the rating up. Also, this is one of the few McDonald's locations that still has the play-place, so there's something to keep the kid(s) entertained...
Read moreLast week on a road trip in Oregon we stopped at your McDonalds. Unknowingly I left my purse behind. 4 hours away finally realized I left it in your McDonalds. I was so upset couldn’t even remember what town we were in. Finally discovered there is only 1mac’s in Florence. What a relief when I got ahold of your manager, Thomas(didn’t get a last name). He said yes it’s here. I couldn’t believe I could be so lucky. I want to thank Thomas for being such a gentleman and caring young man . I could have kissed him I was so dang happy. He assured me the purse was safe with him. I surely also want to thank the person or employee that returned my purse. I wish I knew who it was so I could thank them. But most of all thank you Thomas for helping me and for making it true that there are wonderful , kind people in this crazy world of ours. I will forever be thankful. Of course the “man upstairs” answered me too. God Bless you Thomas, the finder and all. Thanks to my friend Joie who traveled from Newport to pick up my purse and mailed it to me that very day.. my heartfelt thanks always. Toni B....
