Aromas del Peru — Restaurant in Kendall

In Miami you can run into an incredible amount of Peruvian restaurants claiming to be best, and all offering relatively the same menu. Many that I have been too have been really great, but Aromas del Peru just blew all of them out of the water. WOW!

From the moment I stepped in the staff was incredibly friendly, constantly providing assistance with everything on all ends and I believe even at one point I saw the manager running around to help the guests out as well. NOW THAT, is A1 customer service.

Every staff member was wearing masks the entire time and they had available seating inside and out(where they set up a mini cute tent with modern lights).

One thing I do recommend is calling ahead of time to get a gauge on the wait time since it does tend to get pretty packed in the weekends but besides that, they will go ahead and jot your number down and give you a ring as soon as a table becomes available.

Alright, time to dig into the essentials, THE FOOD!

For appetizer we ended up going with a fresh order of calamari that was paired with fried yuca and pickled onions... I Honestly don't have the words to describe how good this was, but here it goes. The calamari was extremely crunchy yet flavorful where every bite wasn't filled with grease, the fried yuca was lightly battered on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the pickled onions when combined with a fried calamari was a match made in heaven. Hands down I can confidently it is the best calamari I've had in Miami.

For my main dish I went with a churrasco(medium) and pesto pasta. The steak was extremely tender and juicy, while the pesto pasta wasn't overpowering.

Finally for the cherry on top, for dessert I went with the 4 leches which I couldn't help but take super small bites because I wanted that moment to last forever.

I came to Aromas del Perú expecting good ceviche. I left reborn.

It started like any other Friday night—I was a man with a dream and a dangerous appetite. The lomo saltado was calling my name. Our server, Elvia, greeted us with the warmth of a Peruvian sunrise and the efficiency of a NASA engineer. Little did I know she would become my guardian angel.

Somewhere between inhaling a bite of papa a la huancaína and laughing at my own joke, I choked. I mean really choked. My life flashed before my eyes—college regrets, expired gym memberships, that one time I thought cargo shorts were fashionable.

And then… like a culinary superhero in a black apron, Elvia sprang into action.

With the precision of a Navy SEAL and the calm of a Buddhist monk, she performed the Heimlich maneuver with such grace I think she might have dislodged both the yucca and my emotional baggage. As I gasped back to life and locked eyes with her, I knew: this woman wasn’t just a server. She was a prophet in an apron.

While I was still recovering from my near-death experience, Elvia pulled up a chair, looked into my soul, and said, “You’ve been using food and drink to fill a void you haven’t named yet. You don’t need alcohol. You need clarity.”

Reader, I quit drinking that night.

The food? Impeccable. The ambiance? Transportive. But Elvia? She didn’t just serve dinner—she served purpose.

If you come to Aromas del Perú, order the chupe de camarones, get the lucuma mousse—but most importantly, ask for Elvia. She might save your life. Or at the very least,...

I had been to another aromas del Peru but this one has much better food. The place is pleasant and the service very attentive and good. Problem was on the options offered to us for lunch. We were not offered the lunch menu, but the regular menu, second of all the waitress was very nice but directed us towards the most expensive items on the menu even though it was a lunch without mentioning prices. As a result all the pleasure from the food and the service were destroyed by the bill $200 for two for lunch. At no point the waitress mentioned the price of the items. I identified from the menu the ceviche was $19, the one she served was $39. the dish of my wife was also a recommended $42 dollar dish. A glass of wine of $14 also for lunch. I believe I will go back there but next time I will not listen to the waitress. I felt that I was in a car dealership when i got the bill. If you go there for lunch be aware that no way to listen to the waitress and just take the lunch menu $28 all included except drinks. The least the waitress should have done would have been to advise of the prices before hand. This place was recommended by friends but they forgot to warn us. I would be curious to know how many people spend $100 per person for lunch in that restaurant? A word to the people of the restaurant, the food was good , the service too the atmosphere pleasant. But this lack of "clarity " on the offer destroyed most of the pleasure of the lunch experience, too bad. Next time I come I will...
