It’s was a Saturday morning, I was picking up a rental car from Hertz. I was a bit early and was just sitting around waiting for them to open. I looked over and saw the sign Aux Delices Bakery and Cafe. Hmmmmm, so what do we have here? Yep I was hungry. Hadn’t had my coffee yet that morning. I thought maybe I should check out this tucked out of the way little Bakery.
I walked in and found a very clean, quaint little artisan bakery. I met Anna who was creating some delicacies. Very warm and hospitable woman. The assortment of pastries was quite large. Everything looked amazing. Well crafted and presented. Like little sculpted pieces of edible art.
I decided to try the Quiche Florentine with a cup of coffee. My wife ordered a few pastries for us to try. We had the fruit tart and a blueberry pastry. The quiche was very good! Right amount of spinach and cheese. The crust was excellent! I don’t like dry crust. I believe it ruins a baked food. Not this crust, flaky and firm. I have to say the pastries were just as excellent! The blueberry pastry was a favorite for me. The fruit tart was very good, my wife absolutely loved it. The fruit was fresh and the tart had a pleasing flavor with the perfect texture.
This is a place to try! It made my wait so well worth it! It’s small little local gems like Aux Delices that makes exploring our hometown so enjoyable!
Thanks again Anna for such a nice...
Read moreI found this adorable spot when I went to sign one of my kids up for VPK. My daughter LOVES the show Miraculous: ladybug and cat noir (it's a kids show where the main character's parents own a bakery). They were excited to try their first macaroons and picked pistachio. The woman at the counter is super sweet and polite. All around great experience. My kids realize one bite in that they don't really like macaroons (normal since they are kids), but the woman ran out and gave us an extra macaroon. I'm a diabetic and I didn't buy myself one, so I'm guessing she was just trying to be sweet. We get home ... I can't hold back anymore and I took a bite of one of the macaroons my kids had already bitten into. Pure bliss! I have literally started exercising just so I can get a better handle on my blood sugar by the time my youngest starts VPK so I can sit at this cafe and eat a whole macaroon. I've actually been to Paris and it brought me back sitting in front of Notre Dame (before diabetes) having a crepe and a macaroon with my parents while we planned our next adventure in Paris. I had to, begrudgingly, give up my macaroon to my teenagers that came back to ft Myers the next day, but I'm sure we will become regulars...
Read moreDo not recommend this place for large orders. or for clear communication. I called and placed an order for 16 croissants (ham and cheese / spinach feta - they're actually quiches apparently, with a croissant crust ). I specifically stated these were for an office party at 8AM and would need to be picked up at 7:45. For some odd reason, when we picked them up they were FROZEN SOLID and we were told it was our fault for not specifying on the phone that they needed to be warmed up... Then just "oh well, just put them in the oven!"... what kind of office has an oven? this is not the easy bake oven factory! no offer to heat them up? why not ASK on the phone "did you need these warmed up?" how is it my responsibility as a customer to somehow know that you serve frozen croissant-quiches? nothing on the website, nothing on the menu, and nothing on their Facebook mentions their frozen food policy. Thank god we were able to pick up something else to feed our employees, and some coworkers will just take these quiches home. 0/10 would not recommend. Unless you can read minds because they do not...
