Growing up in Europe, I was fortunate to be surrounded by authentic Italian culture. With an Italian neighbor running a leather goods shop and spending holidays in places like Sardinia, Terracina, Sperlonga, and Toscana, I developed a deep appreciation for Italian food and hospitality. This background as both a chef and a diner sets a high bar for any Italian dining experience—and Bar Tulia Mercato delivers every time.
From the moment you walk in, you are embraced by the warm, welcoming atmosphere reminiscent of traditional Italian family gatherings. The front-of-house staff is fashionably dressed, setting a tone of professionalism and elegance, while also making you feel right at home. It’s rare to find a place where the service is as consistent as the quality of the food, but Bar Tulia’s team excels here.
Let’s talk drinks first. Bar Tulia’s craft cocktails are exceptional—whether you’re savoring a classic Negroni or indulging in a top-shelf Grappa, each drink is prepared with an authentic touch that reflects a refined palate. Their wine list is equally impressive, offering a well-curated selection that beautifully complements the cuisine.
Now, the food. The menu is a tribute to freshness, authenticity, and creativity. Every week, there’s something new to try, and every single dish is a winner. They offer a seasonal menu that showcases the best ingredients of the time, ensuring that each visit feels like a fresh, flavorful adventure. And their happy hours and wine dinners are not to be missed!
While we’ve yet to meet Chef Vincenzo Betulia in person, his culinary creativity, leadership, and cheeky Italian sense of humor shine through in the experience. The Campagna Group restaurants, including The French, Bar Tulia on 5th Ave, Bar Tulia Mercato, and Osteria Tulia, are all proof of his ability to blend tradition with innovation in the most delightful ways.
The staff at Bar Tulia Mercato are the heart and soul of the experience. Genuine, attentive, and thoughtful, they’ve become friends over time. Special thanks to Marcello, Kim, Lauren, Lenci, Geneva, Andrew, big Stephen, little Stephen, Clark, Zoey, David, Cole, Diana, Jose, Christian, and Adam for making every visit memorable.
If you’re looking for a place that combines authentic Italian food, exceptional service, and an atmosphere that feels like home, Bar Tulia Mercato should be at the top of your list. We hope to...
Read moreBeen going to Bar Tulia since it opened in Mercado and 5th Ave before that.
In the last year the value and quality have suffered greatly!!! It's really frustrating to get less than an appetizer portion of food for dinner. Between the appetizer and the dinner I still left hungry.
Very disappointed. Don't plan on returning.
In response to owner Vincenzo:
It was a cold night in low 50's. Cold for locals. We ate outside since the area was heated. After the appetizer but before the meal was served the overhead heaters were turned off, leaving us on the outside of the patio with a rapidly cooling table. The beer was served in a non-chilled thin walled glass, pored from the can at the table. The waiter should have asked first as beer should remain as cold as possible.
We recently ate at the 5th ave location and while the prices and menu are about the same we had a good time and there wasn't any super small portions. This was the smallest portion dinner I have ever been served. Most of the menu items are low cost food items, so I would expect normal portions. Food cost on this particular meal was not a major factor for the establishment's profits.
We knew what the prices were before we came for dinner. My biggest problem is every little thing has been done to lessen the value of that dinner. No bread, no offer of cheese for the pasta, apparently no heat for the main course. Where I strongly draw the line is leaving hungry after an appetizer, drinks, and a dinner.
This was an anniversary dinner, our first dinner having been at this location. In the past this was one of my favorite restaurants in Naples and I have been there many times. At no time did a manager or the waiter for that mater ask if the food was satisfactory or if there was any issue. No one asked if we wanted a second glass of wine or beer or bussed the dirty dishes from the table. The waiter didn't make it back to the table until it was time for the bill and other staff delivered the food to the table.
The point of public reviews on google or any service is to allow others, especially those visiting the area to know what they can expect when they eat somewhere. It also allows the management a chance to correct and...
Read moreWe had dinner later in the evening on July 4. My husband and my daughter and I decided to sit outside . The ambiance was very nice. Now to the food. My husband and I ordered the Parma pizza for $22 and my daughter got the French Burger which was $29. She asked for the burger to be cooked medium rare. We specifically asked our server what they considered medium rare. (warm pink center) She wasn’t too sure but we made it a point to let her know how it should be cooked. The burger came out well done. My daughter reluctantly sent it back because she was starving. Our pizza came out soggy and tasteless. The mushrooms did not taste like fresh mushrooms. The crust was not cooked and it was a pile of cheese on our plate when we cut it. We sent that back feeling like a little bit embarrassed to have to send both meals back but it was not good. We thought it would be fixed the second time around. The burger and the pizza came back the exact same way! It felt like they gave her the same burger even though I’m sure they didn’t. It was over cooked to well done again. At that point no manager from the restaurant came to check on us to see if everything was ok. I was very disappointed in the food and the fact they couldn’t get it right the second time. I guess they were having an off night but the food was not good. The service was slow and definitely lacking. I think if you are going to charge $29 for a burger it should be cooked correctly and taste amazing. This is a dining experience I would...
