Chef/owner Daniel Cournoyer is doing a remarkable job at his very popular spot. This is probably my 5th visit since I discovered BFH a little over a year ago, and each time the small, intimate space has been filled with happy patrons. No surprise, the chef continues to wow us with his excellent cuisine. Here you can count on the freshest top-quality fish, cooked perfectly and with imagination. Each dish always seems to have an element that takes it to another level.
Chef Cournoyer is doing all the cooking... and it's so intimate, you feel a connection to the kitchen. The plates arrive piping hot... always love that, so rare.
All the salads are great. Tonight, I chose my favorite...Crispy Romaine with Granny Smith Apple Hearts of palm, crumbled blue cheese, pancetta, candied walnuts, white balsamic vinaigrette. Great combination of flavors, really a light dish. Others enjoyed their excellent Caesars. Don't overlook the warm rolls they bring out with their special dip... so good and perfect along with the salads.
The Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with roasted corn salsa, grape tomatoes, baby arugula, garlic-cilantro- chili aioli is a real winner. My entre tonight was fantastic. Jumbo Lump Crab Stuffed Giant Shrimp, sweet pea risotto, white wine lemon butter. Loved it! Tuna Steak, crispy fried rice cake, stir fried vegetables, garlic chili aioli, tomato salsa was also a winner. Crème Brule and Key Lime rounded out another great meal here.
For wine, a bottle of ZD Chardonnay was perfect. (also avail by the glass)
Samantha provided service to match the incredibly high quality of the meal. She's knowledgeable, personable and efficient.

Read moreI had a disappointing experience at Boca Fish House. I had made a reservation for a birthday dinner, but upon arrival, we were informed that only outdoor seating was available despite our reservation. When we inquired about this, the waitress simply stated that there was no room inside and questioned whether we would still dine there. We reluctantly accepted the outdoor seating and requested to store a birthday cake in the fridge. Initially, we were told this wasn't possible due to potential cross-contamination with other foods, which seemed reasonable, but it was frustrating that there wasn't an alternative solution for customers. After some discussion, the waitress mentioned that they could store the cake in an empty fridge.
Despite the initial setbacks, we decided to give the restaurant a chance. The experience didn't improve from there. Our drinks were subpar, and upon expressing our dissatisfaction, we were informed that they were canned premixed drinks and that the restaurant doesn't mix any drinks in-house. The appetizers were mediocre, with crab cakes that were more filler than crab, overly salty and chewy octopus, and mussels that were passable. Throughout our visit, we felt unwelcome, particularly when we questioned our reservation and the lack of indoor seating.
We decided to skip the entrees and end our disappointing experience. We called City Fish Market in Boca, which graciously accommodated us with a last-minute reservation. They seated us by the water and provided excellent service until 11 pm, well past their closing time. Based on this experience, I have no plans to return to Boca Fish House and cannot recommend it. If I could rate it a...
Read moreI took my wife today 1/26 for lunch. It is adjacent to a Jersey's Mikes and Sushiama, which I've been to a number of times but never saw this one right there. I'm sorry it took so long. They open at noon on the weekends and, when we arrived at 12:30, we were the only ones there. A very sweet hostess/server greeted us and brought our drinks quickly. We ordered the blackened shrimp Caeser salad and the fish and chips. We were served warm rolls with butter and a nice plate of basil, shaved parmesan and balsamic vinegar for dipping. 10 minutes later our food was served. The chips on my plate weren't chips that you would normally expect. I think, almost steak fries but these were shoestring. Fortunately, they still were soft and has a nice flavor, so I was relieved. The fish was coated in a very light batter and fried to perfection. It was not in the least bit greasy and my first bite was delicious. It is served with a home-made dipping sauce that made it even better. My wife just wanted a taste and ended up eating half :( The Caeser salad would have just been average, nothing special on the dressing but it came with about 16 medium shrimp that were perfectly blackened but still moist. I was truly amazed. We skipped dessert but next time we'll try the crabcake, lobster bisque and the fish and chips again. Overall, this was a fantastic meal and exceeded my expectations. It is very small and only holds, maybe 20 people. There is seating outside but it lacks the ambiance of the inside. A hidde...
